Replace the piston seal in the caliper and make sure you clean out the groove that it sits in.  One reason the pads stick. The seals are cheap. They act to retract the pad and lose elasticity with age.

It is the large O ring in the caliper.  Use a small screw driver or dental pick to pick it out.  Then use the same thing to clean the groove as junk builds up and causes the pads to stick.  Use care and don't go hog wild digging in there, no need to use force. ;)  The seal will probably look ok and probably does not leak but replace it anyway for the reason I mentioned earlier.

The seal is still available from Honda.  i paid 6 bucks for mine.

+1 on cleaning the groove out.  Make sure it is spotless.  I found Simple Green and a BRASS wire wheel on the Dremel did a great job of cleaning it out without damaging the groove.

I agree...even if the seal looks fine, it's already apart, so you might as well do it right....may never have to do it again.

Best time to restore the finish on the outside is now, before you put it back together, IMHO. ;)

I pulled the rear lower engine / foot peg bolt & is bent significantly.  I had to use a hammer to partially straighten the bolt / rod just to get it out.  I would like to replace it if I can find a suitable replacement if I can't straighten it.

Although my postings have not progressed my project has.  I decided to disassemble the seat clean the rust, weld the cracks, & repaint.  The seat looks good even though I almost lost my house... you see I had a portable propane heater running in my basement & unbeknown to me the vale on the gas tank was leaking.  I smell a strange smell & look down to see a 6-8" flame shooting out of the cylinder valve.  I did manage to get the fire out & THROUGH the cylinder outside  >:(.  I sent the carbs to be cleaned & that turned out to be an ordeal. But I eventually cleaned the carbs, cleaned & sealed the tank using the KBS system (NICE) & the bike is back together.  It even runs  :o. although not very well, when the ground dries enough i will take it to my local wrench & let him adjust the carbs.  I will post pics later.
