New Bike! comments??
« on: December 23, 2009, 07:10:34 PM »
Just picked her up on Monday thanks Terry!.. What do you think? I don't know a ton about the bikes just general info and love the cafe bikes so I plan on changing the tracy body out for a cafe tank and tail section at some point so that might up for sale at some point. Anyone see any modifications that I might not realize besides it being lowered and the items mentioned in the below?

Here is part of the original advertisement for the bike.

71 honda cb750 ground up rebuild.frame painted 836 big bore kit dyna ing. russ collins pipe accell coils barnet clutch web cam heavy springs makes power till 11,000 rpm shift at 10,500 all day long.vintage tracy body.everything works except speedo only gos to 100 and i keep breaking cables bought 2 dont need a speedo.nice bike very old school cool, i just dont really drive it much.would make a great drag bike.prob. run in the 11's.should keep it forever may have to.

very nice looking bike...I would put a 18" rear wheel back on it, 16's should be for the chopper/drag bike look..I know alot of guys will say different, but you asked...

Thanks! I have been looking for one of these to mess around with for a while and everything else in my price range was pretty beat or just not running. I ended up picking this up at what i thought was fair especially since the motor has less then 2 summers on it.

I agree with the others, nice paint job, and I would probably change the rear back to an 18" wheel. Just my 2 cents.

Really nice the way the colors and stripes work with the body lines.  It's not frequent that custom work looks so nice (to my eye).

I've never thought either good or bad about the tracy bodys until now. That paint scheme and the colour is really nice, I like it a lot.

That's a very nice time machine you got there, straight out of the 1970's and period correct ... ;D I hope you reconsider turning it into a modern day cafe racer. That paint theme sure brings back some memories. I had my stock 750 K2 tank and side covers painted with those colors and a similar theme back in 1976. Enjoy your new ride!

I love it almost as it is.  I would slide the forke up the trees a bit to level it out a bit.  Then I would prolly be done.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Great looker, that body style is kind of unique, you don't see to many like it, love the paint,, If you do decide to get rid of the 16 rear, I will trade/buy it from you, I have a couple of 18 inch rims maybe we can work something out.  I will PM you.....

$2K for a bike in that shape is a good deal, I would say.

Personally I like the Tracy body. I would throw taller shocks on the rear and call it good. But to each his/her own.   ;D

Uh, yeah.... you cant take that bike and turn it into a cafe... sorry, its been decided by the island.... and you dont want to be voted off the island... l-)

That thing is sharp... +1 for leaving the 16" rear and sliding the fork tubes up that tree.

Nice!!!

Great to see a Tracy body and yes put an 18" tire on the back.  It should be a sportbike, not a chopper.

Looks great mate, that Tracy body is more suited to it's dirt tracker roots, so if you decide to change it for a cafe body let me know, I've got a Dunstall body here and I'd be happy to trade you. Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Very cool bike. I would lose the rear wheel in favor of an 18" if it were up to me. That Tracy kit and exhaust are super boss.

Well i can see there is certainly an interest in the body! i understand everyone wanting me to keep it as is. But with having the tracy body on it its already not original so i would rather see the body go to someone who will enjoy it more on their bike. It will go up for sale at some point not sure what the price will be though.

That's a good looking bike.  Is there any bracing between the forks?  I can't tell from the pictures.

Their isn't any bracing between the forks..

Does anyone have an idea what I could get for the exhaust? I wanted to get one from Carpy as it is more the style I am looking for so I was wondering what I could get for that to offset the cost.

Thanks,
Chris
