Hi TG,

In this years competition the number of Honda fours has grown from two to five.
Al engines made by our house tuner , one of the fours is a big bore 350/4 with 60 hp rwp mounted in a CB450 Drixton frame.
This bike will be ridden by the european supermonochampion of 2011 Lex van Dijk.
Now our tuner has build a new 500/4 engine that was tested today on the Dyno with 71 hp rwp.
Pictures from the new Cb500's , as you can see one is als o A Davies framed one , the unfinnished CB350 big bore and the Dyno graphic of the new engine:

Hey Rene, you need to go back to school for a maths lesson !!!! i was so sure that Frank Lemstra was riding a Honda 500/4, so i think that means last year there (was) were 3 500/4s racing.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
See you at Assen .......
Col

Fancy pulling our Euro mates on their maths, I've corrected your grammar miztake Stockers. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Rene

Good for you that the 500's are so alive in holland. i think the reason people are going here for the newer classes is the really bad economic situation, the newer bikes are simply cheaper to tune to a good level from my experience with my Gpz750.

really good numbers from the motor. is it using 650 heads? what size valves is your tuner using now? (if its not a military secret :) )

just keep it in one piece during the races and i am sure that really good results will finally come.

500 head , and 29 mm inlet valves, the same we use now.
But the difference is another camshaft a DP335 from Dynoman.

Hi Dave,

The 71 hp engine is not our engine , it is for Gerard van den Brom.
We are the next ones.
Do you come with eastern or to the Ducatie clubraces ?

Best regards René

Yesterday we came back from a 3 days practice at the Val de Vienne track in France.
It was very succesfull for us.
The bike is running and handling incredible , the new Davies frame is worth the money.
Now it is possible to ride tighter lines.
We did the practices without any problem, but all three other Honda classic riders who were there crashed.
One broke his collarbone in the second lap of the first practice on his new build Honda because his gearbox jamned.
Ernst Hagen on the other Davies framed Honda crashed also , with little damage.
Yrjo was 10 seconds faster then last year here !
So we are looking forward , full of confidence , to the first race in Assen with eastern.
But first we try another camshaft on the dyno, we 'll see if that brings some more hp.

I really like that bike stand.  Does the top just sit on the iron stands, or how exactly was it made?

This stand is made from the benches of a german beertable set.
I connected the benches with hinges together.

Gerrit told me it's an 350 engine , I don't know exact the difference  between the 350 and 400 engine.
A 400 engine is not allowed by the dutch classic rules.

Hi Colin,

You're right it's the 400 engine , Gerrit build two engines for Lex, a cb350 and a Cb400.
The cb350 will be used in Holland.
Lex will go to the US with the 400 to do some races
Lex is an excellent rider, see here:

 BRITTEN #9 WINS AT DAYTONA

For the 5th year in a row a Britten has won the Sound of Thunder (previously BEARS) at Daytona. The 9th bike, respendent in the Pro Britten's team colours of silver and gold with black trim and sporting a fern amongst the stars on the tank, was shipped to Daytona last week for its new owner South African,Gary Turner. It was ridden to victory by Dutch rider Lex van Dijk in a field that included Ducati 916's, 955's, 966's and Suzuki TL1000R's.
The bike was originally to compete in the Battle of the Twins the previous day but due to a combination of a new hi-octane slower fuel, damp conditions and a very finely tuned fuelmap, the engine nipped up in practice and had to be transported to a nearby workshop for what has become nearly a traditional last minute engine rebuild by the Britten support team. This was completed at 4 a.m. so the team managed to fit in an hours sleep before having to return to the track.

Without time for a warm-up lap, Van Dijk got off to a poor start but soon warmed up to ride an exquisite race, diving under Carl Raybourne III Jnr. on his Ducati 955 at the infield horseshoe in the 3rd lap and taking the lead. The crowd, the largest to be seen at Daytona for some time, were right behind the Britten and were rewarded for their support by a wheelie on the infield straight on each of the remaining 7 laps.

Britten Race Team Manager, Wayne Alexander said the team were justly elated with the victory. The bike will go on to Europe where the Pro Britten Team are contemplating racing in the European Sound of Thunder series before coming back to New Zealand later this year. The #9 Britten will be based in the Netherlands. Before returning to New Zealand they will visit Mr Michael Iannuccilli in Las Vegas. He is the new owner of Britten #10 which was also shipped last week.

First race Assen:

Yrjo made a very good start of the season by qualifying on the first row , 4th place in a dry QP.
But the weather on the raceday was very bad, cold, a lot of rain and wind so a very wet track.
After the warm up lap he positioned the bike on his startplace , and putting the bike in first gear , the clutch declutched not well and the engine stalled.
Now he had to start from the pitlane.
After the first lap he had alreay passed 6 riders and next lap again 2 riders but then he slowed down , I didn't know why , the engine sounded good.
During the rest of the race 7 riders crashed and Yrjo finished on 8th place.
After the race he told he had no grip at all and saw may riders crashing so he decided to slown down.During the race he was two times of the track and constantly the bike was sliding , the tyres stayed to cold under these weather conditions.
Our friend Gerard , runner up in last champonship crashed, Ernst Hagen on the other Davies Honda had engine problems.
But one Honda rider was very happy and that man was Frank Lemstra , he was like a fish in the water with his Bridgestone BT45 Battlax street tyres.
He finished on 3th place, well done old men.
But Yrjo showed in practice that we are on speed this year.

In the dry he was 30 seconds faster then in the wet.
In front we use a Dunlop KR825 and at the rear a Avon AM22.

I meant his best dry time this year compared to last year....

not a bad idea to keep a spare set of wheels with BT45's for rainy races... :)

My time was 3 seconds slower then the fastest lap last time. But everyone was 4-5 seconds slower then last year because the very low temperature and the hard wind.
