As I said before my biggest problem with this is the way the media and the Republicans hounded President Obama demanding he respond.  He is the President of the U.S. and the would be bomber was some stumble bum peon who lit his underwear on fire and is now elevated way beyond his importance.  That could inspire  deluded would be jihadtists more than anything else.   Think back to Richard Reid the shoe bomber.  President Bush did not even address the issue till 6 days after the fact.  He was not hounded by the press or Democratic political leaders.  When he did respond it was to treat it as somewhat unimportant.  You can be sure that behind the scenes that was not the case but publicly the whole thing was downplayed.  They made Reid look like a stumbling fool and you could almost feel sorry for the guy.   This should have been handled in the same way but we have a Republican party who places scoring political points ahead of all other interests and a media inflated with it's own sense of self importance that treats the news as some sort of sensationalized reality TV show.  And as Retro Pockets says, they need to cut their political ties and go back to being reporters.

This kid was on a terror watch list, had an active Visa to the US, his father who is one of the richest persons in Africa- ratted him out to authorities before this event happened.

It was reported by witnesses that a sharp dressed man 'helped' him get on the flight.

You do the math.

This has CIA/ other Intelligence agencies stench all over it.

New York City - yesterday.  Another terror arrest and they weren't Buddhists.  Tehran -1979, kidnapped Americans at embassy.  Held for 400 plus days.  Again, not Methodists.

Head in the sand!  It'll be OK.

It's funny how with many Americans their only knowledge of Iran seems to be from the Embassy takeover and how terrible and unjust it all was.  In 1954 the CIA helped engineer a coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Mohammed Mosaddeq.  The British controlled Iran's oil fields and the Iranians had the audacity to want to nationalize the oil fields so they could control their own natural resources and keep the money for their people instead of it all going to British companies.  Oh, the nerve of some people.  So the corrupt authoritarian monarch Shah Reza Pahlavi is installed and the CIA helps train a secret police force (SAVAK) to keep any opposition down.  The Iranian Revolution and the Embassy takeover are a direct results of this.  Blowback is a bi-ch sometimes.

You guys are nuts and I cannot understand how you can apologize for terrorists taking American hostages in Iran and holding them for over a year.  And you are correct, I didn't know (and don't care) about what happened in Iran in the 1950's.  What I DO care about is the FACT that the Iranians captured and held hostages with the blessing of the Iranian people and Islam.

You guys with the small minds cannot seem to let facts get in your way of hating the USA.  And if Islam is so great, move to Iran and have a great life.  What's that ... You don't want to move the the great peaceful and free nation of Iran?  Why not?

So Randy, the fact that the CIA overthrew the democratically elected government in Iran in the 50's and put in a puppet government has nothing to do with the modern day instability in Iran and their hatred towards our government?

BTW, most Persian people are very accepting of the west and the USA, it's those pesky Mullahs that hold the power that hate us a lot.
