Topic: FINALLY...the requested pic of my CB750

I have finally gotten around to getting a picture of my 1974 CB750 with a certified 4130 miles on the bike. Business committments and a housing move have kept me from playing with this wonderful piece of bike history!  For you purists... (God bless you)...I am awaiting arrival of a new oem 4-into-4 exhaust set with heat-shields and clamps. I may tear it all down and re-powdercoat the frame. It looks very good for it's age,but not perfect. I am still working on the concept of perfect,so may just enjoy it with the new exhaust system and new tires.
My only question today: what do you recommend for new tires?...and from where?

dewey,if your bike is still original,remember its only original once.

Good point duster.  I call a true original a survivor.

Youll probably get alot of opinions on tires.  Ive had great experiences with the Dunlop D404s.  Good price, modern and fairly agressive tread, good in rain, good sticky rubber, and theyve worn quite well too.  Im thinking about 6k on my oldest set and they are just starting to develop the dreaded flat spot.  Not enough twisties where I live!

4130 miles. Wow! Check out in the automotive world what real survivors are going for as opposed to fully restored cars. You'd be throwing away money - twice. Once by paying to "restore" and the second by its now diminished value. The old dogs like I get need full restos, but a survivor should be left alone. Patina of age isn't something a resto shop or you can supply.
Get a beater to restore.

6pkrunner is right.  I wouldn't powder coat an original frame - just touch up the nicks.  I have a 75 with around 13,000 miles and I won't change a thing as long as I can afford to keep it as original as possible.  Worth far more in the long run if the car world is any indication.  I go to the Hershey Auto Show every so often and the original unrestored cars are worth their weight in gold as long as they stay in decent shape.

Tires - try these, they're right for the time period of your bike and good tires too. I have them on my '71 and they look quite nice.

The rest of the guys are right, keep it as original as possible! Patina is important.

Yep, I went with a new K81 TT100 on the rear. This was after considering Dunlop K70's, but they were just too 1960's.  Looks period and handles O.K.    I'm also sticking with my original rear shocks even though a modern set would improve handling.

I agree with the earlier posts, patina of age counts. If it isn't broken (too much) don't fix it.

Hint: Get some "Rub 'n Buff" Ebony. If you aren't taking your bike out in the rain and snow this product will cover all light rust and nicks well and will blend in with your existing paint job. I highly recommend it.
