exhaust

I'm completely new at this, I just picked up a 78 cb750K and have started my cafe project.  I'm debating on going from the 4 exhaust chrome to the "4 to 1" exhaust black.  What is the reasoning behind switching from the 4 exhaust to the "4 to 1" exhaust pipes.  Power? Sound? low end speed?  I really don't know, other than I like how it looks!

Where do we buy parts for that kind of stuff?  Obviously ebay is great, but any local shops?

You will find a lot of threads on exhaust if you search. Some lower your low end and increase top end. Some just make noise. Some require rejetting the carb since they make the motor run lean. What shape are the pipes in? I could use a couple if you a changing.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Sound different too!

I'd love to have a REAL Yoshimura 4 into 1 race pipe for my bike (good luck finding one).

my 71 cb500 "chopper" came with a set of 4-2 pipes that I am going to use, and a set of 750 4-4 chrome with full baffles.... one pipe has a crack at the flange, and a few nicks and dings... I was actually thinking of selling them, as the flanges will not fit into the ports on my 500.  I will try to get some pics of them and post them, if anyone might be interested.
They would have to be wrapped, and shipped without crates or the buyer could pay extra for boxing thru UPS
