Go Pro Camera - Be a HERO
« on: December 27, 2009, 07:20:34 AM »
Not sure where to put this on the forum ....

Got a Go Pro HD 1080p camera for xmas and tried it out yesterday for the first time. This thing is AWESOME! Very easy to use. Has all kinds of mounting configs + I got an extra hodgepodge bag of mounts. The issue I have is the camera records in MP4 format which is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker - I know - go get myself another editor program and rock on. I found one that was free to download online, but it's not as user friendly as WMM.

Here's a quick video. I'm on my Bonneville instead of a CB. It was 40 deg and my Bonnie is wired for my heated gear. The camera is mounted on the tank with a huge suction cup. The rear facing view, it was mounted with a handle bar mount to the passenger peg.

Here's the entire unedited video of just the forward facing camera.

Thanks a ton, great videos there.  A few more might even help us all get through the winter.

Oh, it stays nice enough here in the South to ride all year long so there will be more videos being made for sure. I cant wait to get the camera mounted on one of the CBs while ripping through The Loop - Hwy 129 (Blood Mtn), Hwy 180 (Wolf Pen Gap rd), and Hwy 60 (North of Suches) in N GA.

Nice camera. Does anyone else find themselves leaning into and out of the curves while sitting in their chair?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Very cool!  I like the second vid a little better, especially the start out and going through the gears and all.  Love it (miss it) it's 23 deg. F here and a foot of snow on the ground  >:(  I really, REALLY hate winter!
Is it just me (or my computer), but has anyone else noticed the first vid taking a 1/4 second pause for every three seconds of play?  Doesn't seem to want to smooth out and play right.

Likely your computer Steve, let it play through on it's own while you do something else, then play it again.  I've built a fairly stout computer here and it needs to pause play while loading the first time around too.

It's not your computer Steve. The second video is an edited/raw mp4. The first video, I edited two videos down into one and the 'hiccup' developed after it converted from a mp4 to an AVI. I've been looking for another mp4 editor now.

I might have to watch this daily since there is currently about a foot of snow outside my window.

Actually can I get a sunrise and a sunset version as well?

Had another go at it. Tried using a different editor (Sony Vegas) and all I did was annoy myself for being dumber than a 5th grader. Went back to the AVS4You editor and it still has the 'hiccups' once converted to an AVI file.

AVI causes nothing but problems... more so in viewer compatibility issues.
Use MPEG2, that should solve a lot of your editing/rendering problems.

I've got Adobe Premier.  Man what a difficult user interface!
Also have Roxio Media Creator 10.  It's ok but no stabilization software... btw, there's a free add on to Premier for stabilization.
Lastly, I have Power Director 5.  Its an older version but great stabilization software and awesome interface.  For a budget program this is the one I would recommend.  It does have a few glitches but I've read its gotten better with new releases and I also know how to work around them after 3 or 4 years of screaming at the computer when it was really me not understanding the program as best I could.

I can offer more suggestions or comments, just ask.   :)

Man I like it!  Still has the hic-ups, but not as noticeable.  I wish I had some of my own videos to watch so that I can tolerate the winter better.
