Never say a TQ engine with stock valve springs and retainers, cylinder studs, etc. Looks like a stocker with Yosh 811 and rods. Was this raced in the US?

Supposedly,I think it was built by a newcomer to the sport.I also couldn't understand why no H/D studs etc.Pistons only said ART,no .050,no POPY,no 812 just ART.No color under domes, not much carbon, didn't run long, improper assembly for sure.  :o, :(,Bill

Man, I'd be interested in the whole engine if it comes up for sale.  Put it to a BMW tranny or something :)

BMW trans hmmm. My dream project would be a bike with an offenhauser or miller 4 de-tuned enough to ride. Reality would dictate an olds quad 4 or honda car engine.

I want to put one in either a small boat, or a midget racer..

My buddy whose bike I will be hopping up, used to have a crackerbox..
Boat.. about 12 ft long with a V8 in it.. I figure with a 750 in it, could be 9 or 10ft long.. must have Webers on it!... Then folks on the lake can enjoy that SOHC song on hot days..... ;D

I had an old friend named Bud Marnett(lots of stories and pics) He built one of these for his son(one of my weldors at our fab shop) to race here in Fl. These things were crazy fast. He was from Indy and his house was a midget race shrine. I used to go and pit for them. These things had 10K plus in the engines and would run wide open at 100 mile an hour at 14k rpm until the next caution flag. Yes, about 10 feet long, no tranny, about 2 feet of drive shaft (that you stratled) and a billet $5k quick change differential.  Jets so big you could put saftey wire through them and not to mention mechanical Hillborn F.I. all over the place.  And did I mention kids driving them. Boys and girls!!! One of the girls was always in the top 5 and went on to race open wheel cars(Indy lights, I believe!

This oil pump re-location was done by a guy who did one for me. He was from Indiana, the "hot-bed" of the dirt track midget car racing.  He passed away 10 years go or more.

Works well.

Plenty of old timers left in Indiana. Search 3/4 midgets and get on their site. Send out some emails. I picked up a big valve head and "bent" rods from one of them a few years back. MRieck had both in hand. He can vouch as to what I received. There's plenty of this old stuff hanging around their garages since they've switched "allegiances" to "other" engines. Buyer beware.

YEah they cannibalized quite a bit of machinery when it was the prefered motors. Where are all the frames, transmissions, etc that were ditched? Landfill?  :(

Hopefully there are a bunch of piles waiting to be repatriated to SOHC4.net.

I found a bit online when I looked months back.. its your search..
use things like Honda sohc midget..CB750 midget..Honda 750 midget.. 1/4 midget racer.. things like that..
I know you are trying to build an inline 4 bike. pump location is a minor problem.

Drive of cam may mean reservoir above engine, is ok if you run in the tank. Otherwise run off front or rear of engine.. The way Cook built a drive off front for alternator? is very reminiscent of an Indian 4 part.
You could easily run a Gilmer belt off the back of crank sideways to pump and charging, cept may have to slide away trans to change belt.
