I was going through some photos from a ride I took for a few days on the Road King the end of September and saw there was a theme that would fit this thread. The theme being old, mostly abandoned places along highways out in the middle of what is now nowhere.
I'll start with some scenery pics along Utah 21. I always say that while US 50 in Nevada is touted as the loneliest highway, I believe Utah 21 between Milford and Garrison has it beat. I've ridden the 75 mile stretch a few times without seeing another vehicle. I've heard people say it is desolate, but I really don't know what they are talking about. It is beautiful -

When in Milford, I will usually take a pic of the Milford Hotel. This time, the owner saw me outside and came out and invited me in to look around. I gladly accepted.

The owner told me some kids broke in and were playing flamethrower with lighters and hairspray and started a fire. The fire department showed up eventually, but in the meantime the fire had largely extinguished itself. Why the hotel didn't burn up is a mystery, although the owner has a theory involving a certain ghost who watches over the place.

Usually when a buddy tells you he has been to, or is on his way to beaver city, high fives would be in order. However, there may be another explanation -

I remember when Spring Valley wasn't blighted by these blasted things.

A roadmap for saboteurs is on the fence. Weird.

I stopped here near Baker, NV for a drink of water and took a couple of pics. The billboard is a "sign of the times." Aldous Huxley had it figured out.

US93 in Nevada has plenty of abandoned stops along the highway. Shellbourne Station catches the eye -
