Sounds like it could even be a salvage bike.  Laws differ from state to state but here it has to be mentioned in the title.  Something for you to check.  It always amazes me at the junk people will peddle or what some consider "good running condition".

PRETTY ROUGH - I see what you mean. This dealership truly misrepresented this bike. The pictures you got from them were very fague and no pics were up close or in detail. A block or more bike for sure!! I've only bought a few bikes but I always try to find ones that are close enough to me so I can go lay my own eyes on them and check them out myself. Stay on these bums and don't give up until you get satisfaction.

If its a wisconsin title it wont say junk, they don't have junk titles or a designation from what I was told at the DMV.. I could be mistaken but I believe that is what they were saying. Still maybe worth a look see. Think your best bet is with the numbers mix up.

title is NC. Voluntary repo. Just heard that the bike was out in the midwest for awhile. Don't really know what the true story is on this bike and really don't want to. Just want to be rid if it. I haven't finished going through and listing all the crap in this bike. But for the different vin#'s, I would probably be stuck with this piece of sh!t. I see it as my ace in the hole.

their pics lake it look like a totally different bike. the condition is atrocious for what you paid for it.

Especially if the VIN's don't match, you need to be talking to that state Dept of Consumer Affairs and the atoorney general's office.  Not on a stinky forum.  The longer you wait, the tougher it will be to take care of this.  And don't throw anything out.

Monday I filed complaints with the Ohio Attorney General, IC3.gov, Wisconsin BBB.  I called the dealership in the morning and the salesman told me that he would try to get a disposition from the GM or the Owner. Never got a call back. Called today and was told that he hadn't been able to talk to either one.  Then just about an hour ago, the owner called and was dissapointed that I hadn't called him direct and that he had gotten the BBB complaint. Long story short, His is going to have someone bring me a certified check and pick up the bike this Sat. Once that is done, I will pull all complaints off web and give him a thumbs up with the BBB.

Glad to hear you might get satisfaction over the deal.

Although, that sounds like a DIFFERENT scam we hear about...  "I'm going to bring you a certified check and you deal with my shipper..."   Make sure it isn't drawn on a Nigerian bank.   ;D ::)

I was going to suggest you hold off on the BBB until your dealings are done.
In fact, that's what the BBB website should have asked you to do as you were filing the complaint.
I'm glad for you.  That bike was a P.O.S.

Contact the Wisconsin DMV...........It is illegal for a dealer to sell a bike without transferring the title to Wisconsin.  You could own this dealer!  BTW.........Wisconsin has JUNKED & SALVAGED titles. However, if you buy with that type of title you can get a clean title when you register it. One other thing to keep track of..........storage fees in your shop.  What is the local rate?

Like I said I was not sure about the Junk title, so listen to Old Scrambler, he has more dealings with the DMV with cycles then anyone I know. Not that its a valid point here any more..

Just get you're money back, and lesson learned.
Don't try to get em for all they're worth.
Your karma helped you in this ordeal.
Don't take it all back, wanting more.

That is pretty much where I am at. I was even willing to pick up 50-100% of the delivery charge just to get the bulk of my $ back. I think with all the cards stacked against him and maybe even being truly concerned with his reputation, he never even hinted at me paying anything. He did make sure that I knew that he was losing $ to do this, which anyone with any common sense would have already known. I will be extremely happy to be rid of the bike and be reunited with my money. I will probably send him a email later with the info on the title after I research it futher. I don't believe in trying to get something for nothing and going after them for more than I deserve. Once I get $ in hand, I will go out of my way to make sure that all know that he was upright and reputable in his dealings with me and that I hold no ill feelings toward him or his business.

Kudos to you for not naming the dealer, and staying level headed..

Same to the dealer for (hopefully) working it out..

 Bet the salesman gets reamed..

This whole thing reminds me of stuff that happened on the ebay motors board, weekly.. cept a lot of times it was the buyers not noticing things in the auction and getting buyers remorse..

Big Bend proper is not very big...population of 1,278. Must be loaded with dealers and burger joints... ;D Glad you are getting your $$$ back Ray. You stayed pretty calm through the ordeal and seemed to get things corrected pretty fast compared to how long some of these things carry on.

That dealer is the largest in the Milwaukee area for used bikes.......no new bikes.  Its actually a nice looking place.  Also sells quads and dual-sports.  The out of state title and wrong vin on the paperwork will get the boss's attention! Good to hear that your getting your $$$ back.

Dennis,  &  All

I check with WI DMV and gave them all the info. Title is OK as it is due to some special circumstances which I won't go into on this board. I have updated the WI BBB complaint with a resolution statement so that he will still look good to them and all. The owner is sending down a Certified Bank check with the guy who is picking up the bike and title on Sat.
From his overall demeanor and actions, I could easily believe him and see that maybe this is all on the salesman's shoulders. Commission lost, shipping charges lost, and pickup charges lost. Probably will come out of his pay some way. Right now, I have decided that I will take the $ and invest it back into my bike which is in Really Really great condition compared to what else I see out there for sale. I can do a lot to make it a show piece with 4K. It is already being put back together and I still have 4 - 5  months to get it all put in shape. another friend in Cin. is doing his wheels and I like what I see, so that is on the list to do also.   http://s850.photobucket.com/home/gary9648/index
I may even decide to drop the stock paint job and go with something really nice but not overdone. I wouldn't have the 1-5k airbrushed paint job on my main daily rider. But what Gary did to his, I like. Time will help me decide where I am going with this. Suggestions are always welcome too. ;D

Congrats on getting your hard earned dough back!!  When you wrote that your friend was doing his wheels,I thought cool, some Buchanans,Akront or Excel. But a polished Honda Magna Rim.....cool ;)  I had one a few years back. It was a 95 and it was yellow{stock color} I had the Cobra slash cut stock looking slip ons and the Kuryakyn iso grips and mirrors, and some cool looking chrome gauge covers for a HD Sportster.. I had to sell it though. I was changing jobs needed Cobra as we were pregnant with our first daughter. I miss that that bike, maybe another will be in my future. What is your friend using to polish the rims?

On my previous post, there is a link for his photos but I'll post it again here.  Wet sand and the dremel to get it to a point ready for the hand drill with a buffing wheel and buffing compounds.

also, there is this one also

I plan to do this to my wheels and also polish the forks too.

So this Saga is now over. Money in hand and in bank. Bike and title in their possession. Lesson learned by all. My thanks to all who gave suggestions and opinions. As far as what is going to happen now is this.....I will rebuild my 96 magna deluxe with the money. I will just have to live with the "rebuilt" or "custom built" title. But from what I have seen, the shape my bike is in is better than everything else out there on the market that is at the price that my bike originally sold for. Besides, this is my daily rider and x-country bike. The K4 is more for local riding and display now. I have started on the rebuild and know that by spring, I will have a bike that will look and ride like the amazing machine that is the MAGNA.
