Yamaha YSR
« on: June 16, 2010, 11:17:14 AM »
So as it turns out, my girlfriend has had a "mini bike" in the back of her garage, covered by a blanket. One day curiosity got the better of me, and I look under it to see a YSR not fully assembled. It's an '87 with 1000 some odd miles on it. I talked her dad, and he told me I could put it back together. I would upload pictures of it but the USB cable for my camera is missing  ???. I get it together, get it started. Her dad says it hasn't run in at least 10 years. It's a fun little bike. I nearly flipped when I saw it. I'm pretty sure he wants to sell it now, and I may buy it, if the funds come together correctly. Anyone have any experience with these?
That's what I'd like to hear.

It's in pretty good condition, there's a few dings in the tank, but overall pretty good looking. white with the red stripe. I'm kicking myself in the head because I need to unload my camera, and would like to post pictures and video of this thing. If only I could remember where I put that dreaded cable...

you should try to convince him it's not worth anything, or disassemble it again and tell him he can sell it that way or give you a discount for your work!!!   ;D

Haha, I should do that. It's in my friends garage now. He lives in my neighborhood, they just paved the roads in the last few years, so it's a lot of fun here. Don't know how I convinced her to allow us to do it. This is a video of my friend on it earlier this morning.  I rode it today, it does indeed go 50mph with enough room.

Nice bike. That neighborhood looks like Coventry Gardens. Is it?

It's those weird curvy intersections and the lack of a sidewalk. I grew up in Livonia, though not in that neighborhood.

Haha, the curvy roads make for fun on the YSR as I experienced yesterday. Whereabouts in Livonia did you grow up?

I actually bought a luggage rack for my 750 from a guy on Lamoyne. I lived a few different places in Livonia, mostly around Franklin High School, where I graduated from in '97. I work around Farmington & 6 Mile now too.

Lamoyne is a few streets down from mine, I live a few houses away from that park located in the neighborhood. I ride by 6 and Farmington  a lot... Only a matter of time before I spot you, or you spot me. Not to many of these things cruisin around SE Michigan.

I usually drive to work but lately I've seen a couple guys on CBs go up and down Farmington. Could've been you.
