Hah! Hi Terry! I thought I might see you again on this thread after my last post. Why don't you show all of the new and unwashed ones here a close-up of you're tank? It's cool and doesn't fit under the title of the thread...but neither does the bike itself. Howz it goin' pal?
Mike
G'Day Mike, I'm good mate, Happy New Year! Here's a close-up of that tank, I bought it from one of the members here a few years ago, it was painted (and signed) by a guy called "Wojowicz" in 1974, and I think he did a pretty cool job. I initially built the bike over a weekend in 2005, from a bare frame without swingarm, and from parts I'd bought on EBay, or at swapmeets etc, so it's a real "bitsa".
The laquer had dulled somewhat on the tank, so I hit it with a couple of coats of 2 pack clear, just to brighten it up a tad. All the "marks" that you think you can see are actually reflections, as the 2 pack clear gives it a permanent "wet" appearance.
I've currently got the hot rod 836cc RC/Mike Rieck engine in it that I built for my racer project as the racer has stalled somewhat. In it's cruiser guise with 2" over front forks, pullback bars and a lowered rear end, it's frightening to ride at 120 MPH in third gear @ 11000 RPM, but I'll eventually find another stock(ish) 750 engine for it, and just enjoy it as a "daily rider". Have a good one Mike, Cheers, Terry.
