I collect old maps, atlases, school geography texts, mostly from the mid 1800's. Interesting to see how our country has changed, and how our idea of the physical world has changed.

While wer're ealking about collecting, I have a small collection of Road Runner items and I've had 2 Plymouth  Road Runners.  Couldn't afford to take care of them and my family, so they were replaced by my daughter  So, now I just check em out online and  at car shows and drool! I also have a small collection of Indian motorcycle items to include a crankshaft alignment stand and some manuals on some of the old Indians and also some Indian- Enfield manuals. AND- a fair collection of old Jawa (50's mostly) manuals, Some of the Indian motorcycle magazines that came out afew years ago and din't last long. I've got some odds & ends of manuals for old H-D, BSA, Triumph and I think  Ariel. Hey, I've got alot of stuff, that my wife calls junk but, it's mine!! Better go for now, got things to do.   Bill

Well. interesting question:

I retired early this year (sold my businesses) and sooooo decided to have some fun:

1.  Currently taking cooking classes 2 times a month (should have done that 45 YEARS ago!)

2.  Cross stitch a LOT and now am learning to frame my pretties (had an entire chest full of xstitch done, so bought the stuff to learn to frame them myself-figured it would cost at least $3,000 to frame the ones I had already done!)

3.  Research real estate investments - about 25 hours a week-we've got property pretty much all over now, and so have to keep up on what is happening in various markets.

4.  Looking for my dream house-been doing this for 5 years - found the perfect one (8 CAR garage!!) and someone put it under contract 3 days after I showed it to DH 8-(  SAD face!  But it has not closed yet, so still watching for a chance to step in a grab it.

5.  For fall back on dream house..have been designing a remodel on current home, but it only has 2 car garage and I want much bigger playpen for my toys!  (Bronco Bike needs some sisters and brothers!)

6  About once a month I go to Mercedes dealer and slobber all over the 320 SLK convertible...hoping DH takes the HINT and gets me one in next couple of years!

Other than that, not a whole lot-

Have been able to do volunteer work - 8 days with Katrina dogs and helping neighborhood family who's 22 year old daughter had great tragedy in November, and is now Quadraplegic-I got a wheelchair ramp built at their home so she could come home for visit on Christmas day!  Now am working on providing meals for the family for next 30 days!  So Keeping Busy!!!

And of course-riding BB with Paul and Gordon and others!  (when weather is over 60 degrees! WUSS here!)

Same here the house is filled with stuff we were supposed to do together. I have an incredible amount of H.O. train stuff that we were going to do together. After many evenings of doing it myself I decided that the stuff could sit until I retired and the stuff was worth tons of cash. Maybe I would sell it and go to the Bahamamas  ;D

Bob, yep, goofing off is where I'm at right now!

Worked from 15 years old and for over 20 years had 2-3 jobs (or business of my own, which meant I worked ALL the time...no one to tell me to go home!)  My Real Estate company was so time consuming-I worked 2 full years with only Christmas Day off!  Couldn't get away from it!   So, now playing is high on my list of "to do"'s!

Actually starting to work on a "fund-raiser" for my neighbors injured kid!  There but for the Grace of God, go I, as my kiddos were all "climbers" and could have been as badly injured as Nicole (neighbors kid).  So want to help with $$$, as it is overwhelming to begin to consider the care a quad needs from age 22 on....

Wanting to plan a "charity run" in spring, but don't know how to put it together yet.  I will put a thread out, as we get closer to spring weather!  I'm sure there are plenty here at SOHC4 who can guide me on a good charity run.  Neighbors are ultra-religious-so Poker Run is totally out of the question!

I have four that keep me busy. The oldest is married, two are graduated from college, three sets of braces behind me. We are finally done with elementary school after 19 consecutive years. My CB was laid-up for most of them.

Much of my time is spent pondering what to do with my trusty CB. I'm also working on family geneology. Hey GeoffT, I know some guys that may have also enjoyed the local fishing, in times past, when they weren't pilfering bird eggs. ;D

Linda, I seem to remember the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club had an article about putting a run together... maybe 6 months, or so, ago.  ? You have to be a member to access their stuff, but if you contact them about this particular thing, someone might send the article or something.

When I'm not fixing my F2 I'm usually working (line cook) or shooting "competitive" pool.  Haven't made much money yet but I can most often pay my bar tab and gas up my bike so I can ride it home and fix it again.  I also tinker with various things, one of which is a '62 Chevy Corvair, but she needs ALOT more work than my bike ever will.  I hate rust.

Hey, Ian--what kind of Corvar do you have?  I've mentioned here befor that I played with Corvairs for about 30 years.  I put over 300,000 miles on a '63 Greenbriar--ended up with a 140 HP engine in it.  I used to buy old wrecks and part them out for swap-meets.  That was befor eBay so I didn't make any money at it.  Paid for a few trips to the "Great Western Fan Belt Toss", though.  Sold my last car, a 1963 Spyder convert, last fall.  I had a 140 HP in it, too, with 3.89 transaxle--it was a hoot to drive.  They are great cars, in my opinion.

Too many hobbies, too little time: Photography; furniture building; marathon running; cross-country skiing; travelling; dragonboating; stainglass window building; glass blowing; and general home renovations. Old hondas have become the newest "obsession" as my wife calls it.

Gee being a poor bastard right now, I am somewhat limited. Living in an apartment right now does not help either. So I mainly work and take care of my kids and sneak in the occasional video game.

Otherwise I like to work on computers, especially the hardware aspect. I like to travel to new areas when I can otherwise I run lights and sound for a band. I call it work" but since there are 2 hotties in the band and not to mention all the women at the bar, well maybe it isnt work! ;D

Besides my obsession with the CB , as most of you know I am a diehard gearhead.
I have a few older "muscle" cars, with the main being a 1955 Chevy Bel-Air 2door hardtop.
Also own a 2000 HD Roadking , which is the long haul bike. I did own a 2003 BigDog Pitbull rigid , but that
was sold to "fund" some other projects...I pretty much eat, sleep, and live for old cars, racecars, rat rods, etc.
I didn't get into the whole motorcycle thing till I was about 18 or so, with me now turning 26 tomorrow 1/4/06 . I am also
the events director for the Chicago Gearheads car club, which takes allot of my time...

If I am not working on the CB, or on one of my autos, or playing around with my Turbo Diesel Ford Excursion ,
or working on my other buddies racecars, I am usually hanging with the girlfriend. I used to be hardcore into Mortal Kombat arcade
games, As when I was 13 I was ranked #1 in the U.S.A in the first MK arcade game. Still play once in awhile , as I have the arcades number 1 - 3 in my basement...

Having held public office for six years and working a full time job diverted me from my hobbies. I dabbled in selling Vintage Audio on ebay for spare cash. I got in early when you could make good money. My hobby was short rides on my 750K. I did nothing but change the oil and plugs. I retired from office and my job. Now I work a 9-5 for a Rail Car manufacturer and I am going to catch up on all of the deferred work on my 78 750K. Expect questions and parts enquires.

Outside of work and family, there seems to be precious little time for anything on a regular basis.  For those few minutes that are available, I brew beer and play with the CB.  Seems a good match to me.
