CB550K Cush Drive removal tool~HELP!
« on: December 31, 2009, 11:43:03 pm »
I hope someone can help!

When I read about dissassembly of the rear wheel, it states that a special "Cush Drive removal tool" is used on lef thanded threads.

Okay...so whre do I get this tool...or better yet, how do I disassemble and later re-assemble without buying a tool I use one time?

Worst case, I take it to the service department at the dealer....if they even know how to do it!

Also, do they make sealed bearings I can put in the rear wheel, so I don't have to deal with repacking?

Thanks,

~Joe

You can make a retainer removal tool, but make it substantial as these can be difficult sometimes. Lightly drill the punch marks & remember left hand thread.

An older dealer probably has the original tool, and probably better looking than this one!

Yes there was one 550 retainer that would not come off. I used an air wrench and tried everything under the sun on it.  Could get it to move but was a lost cause.

Most are easy to get along with, but every once in a while.....

That's why I suggest if you build a tool, make it beefy.  ;)
