New to Kansas City
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:03:22 PM »
I'm not new to the board but I've been away for a bit, Uncle Sam sent me to the desert for a year. I am happy to be back in the world.  I am moving to the Fort Leavenworth - Kansas City Area this month.

I have '77 CB750F that torments me. I bit the bullet and took it to a local shop to get my clutch fixed.  They took a few weeks to get it together but said they could not get the bike to start to test it.  I take it home hook up my trolling motor battery, turn it over a few times and VVVvroom. Curious.  Drop it into gear - Clunk and the rear wheel takes of spinning.  Not fixed. $250 down the drain. The shop has been seized by the bank so no taking it back.  I am happy my bike is not locked inside.

The lever lost tension so I do not know if the cable or something else broke. I will open it up and try again when I am moved in and settled.

Thanks, the photo is deceiving. The top of the tank was rusty so it is now blue/purple chamelion paint from some rattle cans. It gets me where I want to go but I still look like a trained bear on it - I'm 6'3" 240 lbs..  I need to get the 750 on the road so I look a bit less rediculous.

I need another project right now like I need a hole in the head :D

It snowed on me both trips I made from Ohio. Horrible drive both times.  Got Stuck on the driveway - broke off my trailer light and smashed the rear window out of my cherokee sliding backwards.

Happy to be here.  The first of 2 moving vans is supposed to be here tonight.  Let the unloading begin.

Welcome to KC Hope all is well maybe we can meet up  when you get it all sorted out!  CafeRacer in the west bottoms can help and have been in business for years also try Dell's Honda in Blue Springs for parts!  Other than that I guess you'll have to use the web.  Let me know if I can help!

Cheers,

It had been suggested to host a BBQ to attract the local SOHC crowd to help sort out my issues.  I like the idea - I am working on mastering brisket and waiting for the weather to improve.
I have 2 army buddies in the area with smokers.  I think I need to host a competition :)

I'm a huge BBQ fan, i spent 4 years at a restaurant helping with smoking brisket, pork and chicken. I even came up with the places logo "We Smoke only the BEST!"  ;D Myself and another fellow SOHC4 member are planning a ride to either Denver or KC for Memorial day weekend. Let me know if your do host a BBQ. we'd be interested in stopping by.
