Headlight wiring help...
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:06:06 PM »
Hello,
I'm looking for some help in wiring up a headlight for a 1975 CB750F. There was a faring on it and we've removed that and are putting a headlight on from a 80 CB650. It has a green, blue and white wire coming off it. I understand that blue should be high beam and white low beam and green is ground. The problem is that I can not find a blue wire for the high beam. The switch controls the white wire and will turn the headlight on for low beam and then when you switch to high beam it goes completely off.

The only blue wire I can find to hook to is the one that goes to the high beam indicator bulb.

I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

Welcome, there are some wiring diagrams here to look at and print. I printed mine and glued it to cardboard so I could stand it up near the bike. I think that blue one may be the wire you are looking for. It may go to both the indicator and the headlight. Follow it and see if there is an extra female socket where the wires connect in the bucket. Have you checked the light with 12V?
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Thanks for the reply. I did check the headlight with 12V and both high and low beams work.
The blue wire that is there that goes to the indicator does have a jumper off of it but I don't know what to hook it to.
I'll keep trying.
