Winter Movies

Okay, nothing that's common. How about some stuff that never made it big
but is worth the chance to watch. ;)

I'll start it out.

"Off the Map" with Sam Elliot. Strange movie and more like an actual tale about real folks.
Not an action thriller nor nothing close but it grabbed me and I had to see where it was going.
I ended up really liking the whole thing.

Inglorious Bastards.  I didn't get it and it pissed me off.  Pretty good if you need to work off some steam I guess.  Imaginary revenge kind of stuff.

Recently re-visited Harold And Maude.  A great one.

I have a tape of Delicatessen I'm going to watch.  It's a French post-apocalypse movie about a landlord who hires handymen so he can feed his tenants (if you get my drift).  One of the funniest damn movies ever made, IMO.  You have to keep your eyes moving because there's so much going on.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Aguirre, The Wrath of God  1972 film by Werner Herzog
Story of a Spanish expedition in the Amazon searching for the fabled "Lost City of Gold".  The expedition comes unraveled, the leader is deposed and a madman takes over leading them to ruin and death. In German with subtitles.  Excellent.

Walkabout 1971 film by Nicolas Roeg
Set in Australia, a teenage girl and her young brother are abandoned in the outback and are befriended by a young Aborigine.  Stars the beautiful Jenny Agutter.

Billy Budd  1962 film by Peter Ustinov
Based on a Herman Melville story.  Billy Budd is a naive, innocent young merchant sailor press ganged into the Royal Navy in 1797.  His good nature makes him loved by all those around him with the exception of the sadistic master-at-arms.  Beautifully shot film with great acting by the entire cast.

The Fearless Vampire Killers  1967 film by Roman Polanski
A guilty pleasure staring the lovely Sharon Tate.  That alone is enough reason to watch this one. ;)

ah, now the list grows. But finding them will be the trick.  ;)

Just heard about a Billy Bob Movie UE!
"Daddy and them"
with,

Billy Bob and John Prine as brothers, and Andy Griffith as the Dad.
I reckon that makes Billy Bob and John half brothers with Opie.

Donovans Reef! 2 of my all time favourite actors, Lee Marvin and John Wayne

My favorite John Wayne movie.

How about Paint Your Wagon.  Lee Marvin is great in this and Clint Eastwood sings. :D

I would 2nd the choice of Harold and Maude.  One of my favorites.

With vampires all the rage how about another by Werner Herzog from 1979
Nosferatu the Vampyre.  This one is a remake of the 1922  Nosferatu.  I saw these two on a double bill in the theater years ago. The two best "Dracula" films IMO.

Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort were fantastic in that movie!
