Pics of restored 1976 Honda CB750 K6
« on: January 06, 2010, 09:06:43 AM »
Gang -

Over the years I've restored this bike.  I am the second owner but really have owned the bike since it was new since the original owner died the day after he bought this bike.  I rode it for a few years in Chicago not appreciating the bike, but decided to restore it.  These pics are the results of that effort.

I have used this site to help with the project and wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped.

I did everything myself that you see except for the powder coating of the painted parts, and the chroming of the metal parts.  As a result, I'm pretty familiar with the bike and if anyone has questions, feel free to contact me.  Since I wont be checking this site much any more...it would be best to contact me at me email which is my screen name at yahoo or hotmail...your choice.

Thanks again,

and the last two.

Some of the pics were taken when I had another tank on the bike...but it is the same bike.

If anyone wants closer detailed pics...let me know.

Finally - the bike is for sale on Ebay...one day left!

That's gorgeous.

1 question...where did you pick up those gauge faces? Or did you replace them entirely?

Thanks!

Toxic - it took over ten years.....it started when I was single and had money...it got delayed when I got a mother in law and three kids and a mortgage.  I simply worked on it when I had the time.

For the face dials, I used the decals that are available for the instruments.  YOu can find them on ebay or other honda suppliers.

Thanks!

PelicanWheel,

Your bike looks super... Nice Job!

I wanted to ask... your turn signals; Original or Aftermarket.  If aftermarket where did you get them.

I am in the process of a restoration and I haven't decided how to handle my turn signals.  They are decent, but not perfect.

 Thanks for the reply!

Scott

The turn signals are NOS from Honda...I purchased them 10 years ago when I bought about $3000.00 worth of other NOS parts.

I believe that are still available from Honda, however.

I dont mind saying.  Its $6500.00.  Its not an arbitrary number, I based it on what the last two high priced cb750s  that sold on ebay just prior to mine.  Both sold for over $7000.00.  One was an all original '75...pretty clean from storage and lack of use, not restoration, and with after market muffler.  The other was similar except it was one of the earlier bikes.

My bike is all OEM except for the chrome plating and one or two other performance mods (bearings in stem and swing arms, shocks, etc).  Some do not like the chromed parts, but I have the original engine parts that were not chromed... that goes with the bike.  In other words, a few hours can make the bike totally stock with a very low cost.

Anything less than that and I will continue to own it for the rest of my life.

If you do not get what you are asking, would you be willing to sell me those extra tank badges for my K4 restoration? Or, can you tell me where you got those.

Very nice job.  Your efforts certainly do show.  But I wish I had a $ for everytime I see a sidecover with the winged emblem mounted wrong with the left on the right side and vice versa.  Just do not understand how this happens so frequently.  Got 2 of my own 76 resto's underway and I know now they will not measure up to yours.  Good luck and thanks for sharing.

LOL Stickman...you got me!!!!!!!!

I bet that my mistake, and everyone else that does it, is simply we never noticed this before!

You dont want to know how much trouble I had getting the carb to air box rubber boots to fit on correctly.  The carb to engine boots have to be a certain position for the back boots to fit right.  I would try it for about 15 minutes...get frustrated...come back months later.  Try it again, get frustrated...come back months later.  I finally committed an entire morning to doing it right... and it took 15 minutes.  Go figure.  I guess the lesson there is always be in the right frame of mind for things to go right.  It takes twice as long to do it wrong than to do it right from the start.
