Cool R1 Tracker !
« on: January 06, 2010, 10:11:47 AM »
On the cover of the latest CYCLE, a yellow with filmstripe paint tracker, built ofrom a modern bike..

Gobs of pics inside, including sliding it around on pavement, bike looks really nice, well done.. The test rider said it was one of the most fun bike he ever rode, and the closest to a drift motorcycle, that he ever rode.. :o

Also a few other neat bikes, including a CB 750..

I don't know, I've sure never seen it. Bill (Ecosse) and I were looking up all kinds of Trackers, some time back. Don't remember THAT one though. It IS interesting and shows just what CAN be accomplished, with SOME thought and effort. 8)

dunno bill i think it may have made it to our exhaustive coverage of the tracker genre. but, the only way to be sure perhaps is to revive that thread.  ???

I just got the mag myself. I like how they opened up the front of the tank, which is actually an air filter and used the open space to mount the gauges. hate the chrome on frame/swingarm. everything else is cool.

it's from an article: worlds coolest bikes. the cb750 is one of the others! along with the britten 1000, xlcr, and the crazy aluminum cafes from shinya kimura.

Frame is nickle plated and supposedly brushed down a bit to take down the shine.  It does look shiny in that pic though.   The width of the frame does take a away from the looks imho but I guess fabricating something else would take the difficulty of the project to a whole other plane.  I'm always a fan of real spoke wheels but I do like the alloys on this one.  All in all very impressive for starting with a water cooled fully faired sport bike!

My jaw dropped when I saw that thing.  It's exactly what I've been planning to do with my old FZR if I keep it (which will probably happen since nobody's buying anything right now).  I always thought with a blacked out frame, dirt track seat and the black/yellow Yamaha graphics it would be a cool TZ750 kind of tribute bike.  I've got some pictures to go from now, thanks.
