Deal.. As soon as I 4k (need extra for the trip) that does not have to goto kids collage, braces or the house or car.. I am heading down.. Tho it would have to be in the spring.. Not a big fan of warm/humid weather. Don't forget to leave the light on for me! ;)

now for the stem problem, the suzuki stem is about a 1/2 inch too short so I cut it off and pressed in a 76 CB750 stem. (my 71 was a smaller diameter inside the tree casting and damaged as well)

had to heat it up and stretch it 1 mm to fit into the GSXR tree

pressed it in and here it is
from left to right-
     cut piece of gsxr stem
tool to stretch the 750 stem
     tool to press it out
     and the done deal  8)

fits perfectly now.

mock up so far.

mega thread necromancy: i've got parts coming for this swap, and i'm starting to prepare but had a quick question. what did you cut your stem out with? i cant get a good line on it and worry about nicking up the the stem.

The GSXR stem is pressed in
The cb750 stem can probably be pressed out after you grind off the welds on the bottom.

it's not as easy as you think though. it doesn't press out like you'd expect.

if you notice, op probably used a hacksaw or cutting wheel to remove his.

GSXR stem is *just* pressed in, no need to cut anything. There is a wire ring about 4mm from the bottom of the stem, so you press it out in that direction, but that is it.

yep, mine came out easy-peasy. turned a bit of round stock so i had an edge to go into the stem, threw it into the press and one loud pop and then it glided right out.

Has anyone heard from Industrial?
I'd really like to watch his videos but they are all set to private.

Cool build thread.  I did something similar a few years ago.  I had a featherbed frme,  I used a 93 GSXR 750 frontend,  harley hubs,  Buchanon spokes and morad drop center 17" rims.  I was going to build a Norley,  but ended up selling the project.  Too many other projects to do.
Here are a few pictures.
