got the wheel in today.
I'm guessing it's off a 2008-2010 narrow glide bike. With a tape measure It measures 4 7/8 to 5 inches flange to flange (I can't find my measuring calipers)
I think the rotors are still gonna need some shimming.
The rim has a bent lip, but it's nothing I can't deal with.

Here's a mock up pic to make me feel like I'm further along than I really am ;D

Help if able please.  I recently purchased some of the parts for a front end swap, fork legs and triple tree clamps.  I just tried to get the clamps on the legs but the clamps are too small and will not fit.  I bought the parts separately, the legs are 2001 and the clamps 2002, but i don't know if that would make any difference.  I have left and right clip on 08 and 06 handlebars and those slide on perfectly.  Is there some trick to getting the clamps on?

Thanks

SON OF A #$%*!!!
I swear to God!!!

my right upper (gold part) fork leg is bent the tiniest bit and it throws the bottom of the thing out by an inch.
also by looking for another upper tube I have found out my fork legs are 06-07 gsxr600.

AAAAAARGH!

I should have just saved my money and bought a straight complete assembly.
STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID....

 >:( >:( >:( >:(

Made the SAME mistake. Found a decent looking set of GSX-R 600 forks for dirty cheap with no accessories just forks and trees. After much hassle and talking to his mother I finally got them from the kid and they were totally stunted. Banged up. Straight though, at least that was something. Did come with a bonus caliper that he stripped the allen bolt on and thus couldn't remove himself.

In any case, I decided to stop pussyfooting it and picked up a set of R6 forks complete, controls, brakes, wheel, etc etc. It was about 5 times as much but oooooh sooooo pretty to have a minty ready to rock and roll set of forks.

Too bad I work too much and all these sexy parts sit in the corner...  >:(

Nice work however.

What all is involved in mounting the GSX-R rotors to the Narrow-Glide wheel? That looks like a great option for folks not wanting to give up the spoked wheel when going to big axle forks.

Could the Narrow-Glide hub be laced to a 18" Honda rear wheel?  ;D

The spokes may fit as the 19in is probably a drop-center rim..

Ind Caf, if you want a cheapo shotbag, take about 18 inches of trucktube.. wire end, fill with sand, wire other end....

 crude, but should work...

Ok so I figured it out I think. I have non-inverted shock clamps! (2002 GSXR 600) Didnt know the models in the same year had inverted and non inverted shocks. pretty tricky..
It seems like this is the case if anyone knows more any info helps.
thanks

+1 it's a drop center rim, one would suspect the 18 would fit.

good idea on the bag, I think I'll maybe make one.

The top of the fork legs changes from year to year for no good reason.
I think it's a way to confuse you and get your money.

Update= today while I was banging on the rim I was distracted mid swing by my kids chasing each other right over the wheel. >:(
I whacked 2 spokes with the rubber mallet and bent them slightly.
So I think I'll take it all apart, finish straightening everything, and put it back together.

I was worried if I beat on the rim without being laced up it would warp the hoop... but I'll try it unlaced. and see what happens.

I mocked it up on a spare axle and it spun a little wobbly, but once I loosened all the spokes it generally spun round and smooth except for a high spot to the right of the low spot I've been banging on.
I'm gonna get to that later, my wife won't let me go back in the garage right now.

I made a short video if you wanna see some MacGyver action.

huh... the censoring makes you look even harder, missing what's going on on the ground.

maybe I'll remove it. you can sorta see through it.

well today I snuck back outside and just started whacking the hoop (no spokes or hub) with the 4X4 post.
I mean like -over the head 2 hands- type bashing. and whaddya know? it's a lot straighter... I had a sorta square-ish shape happening to that side of the rim, now it's rounder than ever.
so I figured, since I was out there,  I might as well lace and true the wheel...
