My Mom had one of those Larks. It was like this one, except her's was a 4dr sedan. Pretty Plain Jane with no power, but was always dependable. Then there was the time she was on her way from Little Rock to the Lake, where they eventually retired to. There she was, out there on hwy 10 with a Greyhound bus in front of her AND another one came up behind her. Wasn't too bad except the one in front wasn't in any hurry while the one behind her, WAS!

She was NOT a happy camper by the time she got to where We were.

But, she got alot of good miles out of that old car. Traded it in on a new 65' Dodge Dart Station Wagon w/ 225 slant six. The Dodge was our 1st NEW car ever.

i had a 62 gran turismo hawk with the 374ci packard engine when i lived in florida. hindsight being what it is, if i had to choose 1 car out of all the vehicles i've had since 1984 when i got my first car, the stude is the one i wish i'd kept.

I don't think I'd turn down ANY of the Studebaker Hawks, if given a chance at one. Awesome cars, in MY book! But, I'd also go for an Avanti (the original, not a Chevy powered Avanti II) or a Lark Daytona (the Avanti Powered one with the Paxton Super charger!

I think he means more like:

Always remove the accelerator pump diaphragm before carb cleaning. Carb cleaner and the rubber diaphragm don't really get along all that well....don't ask me how I know

Dennis has it! my favorite was back in the greenspun days when someone (I think it was a 350F owner) turned their oil filter bolt hard enough to drop the bike onto it's right side. He recommended that we all have someone seated on the bike when breaking the filter bolt loose (at least for the first time)
