Topic: 500 tacho cable inner/electronic tacho

my tacho cable snapped today,im pondering fitting an electronic tacho,ive been to bike shops and looked through catalouges and have seen a few i like that would mount up easy and neatly,no one seems to be able to tell me if itll work on my boyer bransden ignition,one shop even got the rep on the phone for me who didnt have a clue,according to the installation leaflet all plugs fire simutaneously now,,so is the tacho set to two stroke single cylinder?itll be firing every 180 degrees i think?the system has two pickups and two magnets 180 apart.,i could get another cable inner even though the tacho is wavey.

If you could get a hold of a twin channel oscilloscope you could check the signals going from the black box to the coils. This is the low tension side so it wouldn't damage the scope. Ypu would then be able to decide which would be the better place to connect the pickup for the tacho.

if you go to  change the tach cable you might want to figure out why it broke in the first place... i wouldnt change just the inner, as you could have a bur, or some form of imperfection in the housing...
