the man that created Gumby passed away Friday. I always kind of thought that he had to be at least a little bit of a stoner to come up with Gumby. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34778153/ns/us_news-life/
My name isnt Gum, it's GUMBY DAMNIT!

That's really sad. I loved Gumby as a child and even as an adult. Davy and Goliath too. Back in the early 80's I went to a Gumby film festival and Art and his wife were there and after the showing they hung out, answered questions, and signed autographs. The whole audience joined them in a sing-a-long of the Gumby theme song. A truly wonderful couple. RIP Art.
This is the original opening that I remember from the mid sixties when I started watching.

these clips are really bringing back some memories from my pothead days
i can almost smell the basement and pot smells, watching gumby while we were tripping our asses off
amazing how some things can bring back smells and sounds from 20+ years ago isnt it?
