People don't tend to be quite as stubborn when it comes to their beliefs about the tires they choose, and I'm sure it helps quite a bit that there is a lot more third-party info on specific tires and that riders can actually feel and see for themselves how different tires perform for them. 

When it comes to oil it's about 99.99% hearsay, myths, and legend that may or may not have any basis in fact, and 0.01% verifiable information. 


Although, we did have a really good thread going a couple of years ago concerning the merits of a certain Chinese-made tire, that ended up reading very much like the typical "oil thread". ;D
