Big Grade Gelding
Date: 2009-10-15, 12:54AM MDT

Big grade gelding. Been used as a pickup horse until he got hooked by a bull. Think he has a split personality, some days he's great, some days he's a real prick. No secrets here, you need to tranq him to shoe him or he will try and kick your head off. He has been used for branding, moving cows, ranch roping ect. And like I said, some days he is great, we have had beginner riders on him and they have done fine, I have ridden him in the hills or gathered on him and he was fine,He is not great to catch, although we have him turmed out on 140 acres so he can leave if he wants, but in a smaller pen he is much better. he just needs someone that isnt going to take his #$%* on a regular basis. He needs to be taken and used. If you are looking for a horse that you can ride twice a year, well then this is not the horse for you., But if you use your horse as often as you change your pants then he will probably suit you perfect. We bought him with the intention of selling him and because we have more than enough horses he has gone to the bottom of the priority barrel. He is not a horse for the faint hearted, if you are handy and need a project or if you think you are handy and need to try and prove it. I think he is about 11 years old. 15.3 hands. Anwsers to the name of Dick. Ok, he doesn't anwser, thats just what I call him. $2,500 obo.

$2500?!?!?!?!

Holy #$%* that's expensive.... horses broke to ride and drive around here go for half that.

And they have a cold-blooded temperment too!!

Fuzz- We have Halflingers. About 14 to be exact. And close to 25 more mixed breeds that are being boarded. I'll fix that horse for him. He should pay me to do it. Because if he gets that kind of money for that poor #$%*ed animal both he and the new owner should be shot.

good, young, large (16hh+) horses are going for well under 1000 here if you dont think you need something with papers. hay has tripled in price over last years prices and people are selling their horsesfor dirt cheap because of it. that ad was in craigslists "best of" section.

Sounds like a buncha money for a lot of trouble, you have to tranq him for shoes...  ::)

Smells like a dog food horse to me...

i had a thoroughbred (she was fresh off the track) i couldnt bring clippers anywhere within 25 feet of her without an ace/rompum cocktail into her jugular, she was just pure damn evil as faras clipping went, docile as a lamb otherwise, my little nephew could run back and forth under her belly while in cross ties.

Meh, thoroughbreds are always skittish, they are like overbred dogs.

theyre nuts from all the drugs (dont let anyone tell it isnt possible, lots of stuff that doesnt show up) pain, i've seen lots of em with nerve blocks in their legs. i have never seen a t-bred that is as bad as a bad Arab, my step daughter has one and though Star is gorgeous, she's as dumb as a bag of hammers imagine a stereotypical blonde woman. then again, the horse that broke my neck for me was a foundation style Q-H. if i ever get another one, i'd like to have another Appaloosa if i can find one 16hh or larger, sizewise, like Opie (in the below pic) but i'd LOVE to have a leopard spotted app IF i ever feel comfortable enough with riding again.
