TANKS ALOT!!!!
« on: January 09, 2010, 12:32:10 AM »
So im walkin through our studio yesterday and notice a 2 sample tanks that were sent to us from Europe. After a little research i found that they are from a Moto Guzzi V7 and the V7 clubman racer...sweet!!! so what the hell lets try it on and the results are in. Here are the pics. Of course some will like this and some wont but they fit my overall vision for the bike as far as a modern interp of a cafe racer....oh and they are free  ;D winwin.
Cheers,

I have a 550 as well and I want that second tank. Is it a OEM item, where can I get it and what will it run me.

I don't see a second tank.
They all look like they are, or could be, the same tank.

Its from a "Moto Guzzi V7"... Saw one on ebay a couple days ago but it was under the "moto guzzi 978928" there is some light fab work to be done on frame to make it sit right but its really minimal. Ill post the pics of this fab work when i start it this week.

Awesome.  The Guzzi tanks from the 70's are my favorites.  I would love to know what the mods are to get them on the Honda Frame.  Some more views of the tanks:

Here is how it works... I am a designer for Polaris Industries atvs, snowmobile, rzrs and with that comes Victory Motorcycles. Sometimes suppliers and manufacurers send us samples of there items to show us potential material applications for our products. Thats how we got the Guzzi tanks.Tha same company that supplies Guzzi does some products for our vehicles. As far as cost you will have to contact a Guzzi dealer near you and ask for a tank off of a V7 Classic.

You might want to slip the triple clamps into place and check your turning radius - the front of the tank seems to be right about where the fork tubes should reside once assembled...
That is a really sweet looking piece though!
Good luck!

I'm kind of jealous!  You'll have a real riding season!  I'm half tempted to move south too.  Let us know when you are back up and running on this project!
