hey guys,
so i'm stripping the paint off of my Super Sport tank the other day - i was prepping it for a POR-15 acid bath and sealer coat - and lo and behold to my wondering eyes appeared a lacework of pinholes along the bottom edges of the tank...there are also some BB sized holes in the bottom of the tank...i had chunks of rusted metal coming out the fill hole...

now, if i had a lick of sense i'd probably just pitch the tank. i bought it knowing it had rust, knowing that i'd have to strip, clean and seal it, but now the prospect of having to bondo the holes first is daunting me.
Question: does anyone know or have experience with the interaction of bondo with the cleaners and acids that are commonly used to eat the rust out of gastanks? Is the acid etch going to eat through the patches before i get a chance to seal them?
the prospect of buying another tank is not the worst thing in the world, but not exactly in the budget right now...
