BOTM One Month Wait For Re-nomination Poll
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:54:53 AM »
This poll is to see if a BOTM nominated SOHC that did not win can be re-nominated the next month or not.  This means that the BOTM nominee will need to skip one month before it can be re-nominated for BOTM or not.

Once the poll has finished, the outcome will become part of the rules.

Please keep this thread civil and friendly y'all.  :) :) :)

We had 117 votes for January's BOTM.  Can we get somewhere near that many votes in this poll?  It would at least show how the majority of you all feel about this.

It's an option (results not visible until the poll expires) that can be set by whomever sets up the poll. More often than not, I think when the results are hidden it may be done so to avoid the current results from influencing someone's vote.

I'm torn on this issue.  On the one hand, I can understand why it's preferable to not nominate the same bike twice in a row, but on the other, I generally want less rules, not more.

My only suggestion to have "better" BOTMs is to categorize them (to compare cafe's to cafe's, bobbers to bobbers, stocks to stocks, police specials to... well, I guess Hush would have to run alone that month  :D ).  To compare apples to apples, so to speak.  But then... I can imagine the concern of the moderators that maybe there wouldn't be enough nominations if we went that route.

Probably best to leave things as they are....   :-\

I would like to clarify one fine point, when you say nominated do you mean "nomination and seconded" or just "nominated"?  It makes a small difference.

Not really 'cause you have to be seconded and accepted to even be voted upon.  To help with the clarification;

Nominated, seconded, accepted and made it to the BOTM voting thread to be voted for.  Do they need to wait one month before they can be nominated again for a BOTM vote if they did not win the BOTM the month prior?  Yes or No.

I feel tounge twisted, lol.

I'm wondering what is the motivation for this proposed rule change?  Is there some problem with re-nominations that I'm unaware of?

All,

This is a surpisingly passionate issue going both ways.  I am glad many of you have contributed to this and expressed your wish either in post or vote only.

What I want to say is no matter which way this goes, if it is not the way you wished it to go, please continue to participate in the BOTM forum.

I hope no one was offended by taking this to a poll.  It was not my intentions of doing that if it did.  There was a lot of passion shown on this issue and felt this was a good way of hopefully getting this cleared up and everyone still like each other.   ;D

The participation is good and helps make for some good fun.  Also a good way to show your appreciation for a SOHC that you like.  In fact, if I ever get my own SOHC, I have picked some great ideas for which I would want to do.

Thanks for listening,
Rick

Hey Rick, There shouldn't be Anyone who has a problem, when someone tries to keep things running smoothly. I, for one, appreciate your efforts AND the way you have come in here and doing this job. Aurely the others will agree on that as well. :)

Fact is, some time back, I tried to motivate folks to support the BOTM moreso, when heffay was in here and I wasn't very successful either.

ThankYou for ALL that YOU do! ;)
