Howdy from Frozen Michigan!
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:43:59 AM »
Hello to all, introducing myself. my name is ted i live in port huron, Michigan. im planning on tackling the project of getting my dad's 1974 cb750 running right again. it has sat for pretty much the last 20 years or so. i took it out on the road a few summers back and it didnt run for crap obviously the carbs are gunked up and the rings are probably stuck. this bike is kind of unique to me as i have only seen a couple of them and those were only online. it has a complete Dunstall cafe racer kit on it although im not sure if the Dunstall treats are inside the motor as well, hopefully i wont have to tear into the insides of the motor. he added electronic ignition somewhere in the early eighties. he said he had a set of Santee headers and mufflers on it back then and they really sounded great. anyone know where i could find a set of these? id really like to get it running back to the way it was when he was riding it all the time. really low mileage bike, i think it is under 12,000 miles on it. it also needs new tires front and rear, i know everyone has an opinion on what tires to run but i was wondering what ones would be the best balance. we both ride fairly conservatively although i like speed in the twisties occasionally! i myself own a 2001 Vstar Classic that i have done a fair amount of work to, but im running out of things to mod on that bike so im going to tackle this new project.

Welcome. Post pics when you can, sounds interesting and I'm sure others want to see as well. There will be no lack of suggestions on tires. ;)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

If you're worried about how many calories are in beer, is losing weight really your biggest problem?
