Anyone here hear about the new law proposed in France/E.U. about lawmakers wanting to make
psycological abuse of a spouse illegall?

IE, if you yell at your wife, she can have you put in jail.

thing is, that's such a hard thing to quantify. 
...and yet, we see so many women who look to their husband for 'lines' in the ED, and he'll say she fell down the stairs, or whatever while the a-hole has obviously busted up knuckles or something.  You see it on TV enough for it to seem like a cliche, but it really does happen, and guys will get away with it for years because the chick somehow believes she deserves it.

psychological abuse really happens but the victims, in the end, really believe they're deserving of the treatment they receive, meaning this law is probably going to be useless anyway.

I agree Kit. One of my in-laws stayed for 20 years in a Phsically abusive marriage.
But we're talking Verbal Abuse here.

I can just imagine my English speaking neighbors mis-interperting my French yelling for abuse.
(when we had an apartment in the city).

Seems like a whole new defense for physical abuse will be created:

"He/she was really asking for it!"

It is very sad, but I've got a buddy whose wife really pushes his buttons.  She has even "psychologically abused" him in front of friends and family.  I don't know how he has managed to restrain himself for all these years.  Of course, he's afraid to divorce her because he knows he will get royally screwed with parenting time, alimony and child support in divorce court.

Really, all I wanted to point out was the rediculous extremes political correctness has gone.

Next thing you know it will be on the shores of the USA, and other backwards thinking countries.
