Guess Where I am (Hint: Venezuela)
« on: February 11, 2010, 04:42:08 PM »
Whaddup, Forums!

I high-tailed it down to Venezuela to get away from the 2010 winter Olympics that have taken over my home town. I had a great time watching baseball games and handing out baseball gear to kids playing with broomsticks in sandlots.

Anyways, there are all manners of small singles and twins kicking around. I assume that many of them are Chinese, because I've never heard of them: Max Go... Yukei... all sorts of stuff. Standard ride is 125-250cc single. Cops have bigger bikes, often off-road Yamahas. Sometimes BMW.

In any case, guess how much gas costs? TWO CENTS A LITER! It's far cheaper than water or beer. Fishermen fill multiple jerry cans without even letting go of the nozzle between cans, it's bloody incredible. A full tank in our renal car cost about $.40. Nothing else is really that much cheaper than back home, but my GOD on the gas. I'm silently designing a pipeline of some kind. Stay tuned.

Thinking of you guys each time I see a bike. No SOHC4s yet, but if one shows up I'll snap it. Stay tuned at wordpress.com/elsalamigrande

I was wondering the other day if there were any members in central or south america.  I seem to remember one guy in Mexico not too long ago, but I think he was the southern most I knew of in the americas.

Man, I want to take a vacation. Is it cool, there? Good places to relax? There's not a bunch of fools trying to search you and hassle you when you go in and out, is there?

I don't care about #$%*king Chavez. My tourist dollars pale in comparison to the oil profits. I just want to go somewhere in peace. Commies, yeah, maybe. If they can serve me a drink and give me a cheap hotel I'll let 'em be commies.

South America! Do I win? What did I win?

I don't think that you can call it communism. It's most certainly every man for himself out there, and everyone's trying to hustle a buck.
Haven't been tarred and feathered quite yet. In fact, everyone's pretty nice. They most certainly love baseball, and so do I, so Venezuela and I get along fine.
I'm going to post on the blog about Chavez, etc., so stay tuned in the next day or so. Also planning a motorcycle post if I can find some material.
It's off to Panama tomorrow, so stay tuned.

You may want to post about Chavez after you've safely left Venezuela.  Just in case...
