About This Ignore Feature?
« on: January 12, 2010, 08:42:46 PM »

Of course, I knew we had this thing, but I had never (and still haven't) used it. I didn't figure I needed it. Now, as it turns out, I realized awhile ago, that I am being ignored by TWO folks here. I guess it came about after Sunday. I know the specifics of this was discussed here before, but I don't remember too well. Can someone clue me in or at least give me some guidance to find the info? Sometimes I don't do too well on the search feature. I don't seem to put in the right word to get where I need to go.

                                        Thanks, Bill ;)

Don't fret over that, Bill.  "You can't please all of the people all of the time", "the truth hurts", "if you don't have any enemies, you're doing something wrong", etc., etc., etc.

If you want to ignore somebody, all you have to do is press the little button under their name that says "IGNORE".  Then, all their posts just say "this user is currently ignored" instead of burning your eyes and sensibilities with whatever nonsense they usually spew.  Then, you can choose to "un-ignore" individual messages as they come up, simply by pressing another button next to the messages.

I wish there were a way to "ignore" threads, too, so that their titles wouldn't even show up at all.  Filtering threads that contain certain keywords by configurable rules would be nice too.

G'day Bill

Happy New Year to you.

If someone has you on their ignore list, basically what it means is that any of your posts will be hidden from them.

It's just a choice thing.

As Abraham Lincoln said:

"You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

Mick  ;)
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Well thanks Ed, for cluing me ::)  I guess I stepped on some toes, huh? Well, I do try to get along, but everyone has their limits (including me) and MINE have been pushed a few times over the years (not much though and not for some time, til recently).

Thanks again, Take care, Bill ;)

out of anyone on this forum Bill, you'd be the least likely of ANYONE here to be ignored i'd think. i wondered for a while who had me on ignore, thought i knew who it was then saw this person replying to one of my threads. life is too short to worry about it man. also meant to ask you. will you be going to barbe in october? if so, would you be willing to hold onto that sprint roller till then?

And a G'day to YOU as well, Mick. ;) AND a Happy New Year to YOU as well! :)

Yeah, in my younger years, I might have been Ignored by a number of folks. ::) But, as I've grown older and experienced the things I have, I felt I was more aware of others feeling and such and tried more to get along and help in any way I could. I guess there are SOME who just don't want that. Oh well, all you can do is TRY.

BTW, seems old Abraham Lincoln knew what he was talking about, huh?  Ed quoted his saying also. ;)

Thanks man, have a good one, Bill ;)

Yeah Jeff, neither did I, but I suppose that's life. I try to get along, but I won't lay down to be stepped on. ::)

I really hope to be going to Barber in Oct, Jeff. Yes, I told you that the Sprint "Roller" is yours and it will be NO problem to bring it with me and, if for some reason you CAN'T make it, I'll bring it TO you. I want YOU to have that Sprint because YOU have the desire to make something out of it and I DID, but don't now.

Don't give it another thought Jeff, it'll be there, Bill ;)

Funny thing is, the 2 who I had some discussion with Sunday, each are being ignored by 1 person and they probably think it's me! :D But, I hate to disappoint anyone, as I am not Ignoring Anyone! ;) MY ignore button is "Brand New" and Untouched! ;D

I'm in the same boat BOX, ignored by one and I've accidently clicked a few peoples ignore button.
I had my say in the other thread that I started, I think it needs doing away with, if you don't want to read a persons post....don't read them.

Well, you k now Mick, As I had said, I didn't think it WOULD be you, because we had talked and I felt we had squared things anyway. It IS good to know for certain though. I could be wrong, but I feel that I know who ONE of mine is too. ::) Thing is, I knew that we had the button, but never thought to use it, because I figure I'm big enough to ignore on my own, without some silly button, you know? :D

Well hey, I am being ignored by 2 people also. Pretty sure who one of them is but I have to wonder when the second one happened. Oh well. If someone feels the need to ignore someone that bad, that is their problem.

In some ways, it would be nice to be able to see for sure who is ignoring you, that way you could either choose to try work it out or leave it alone. or maybe someone hit it by mistake.

How do you tell if you're being ignored?  Is there some icon that lights up or something??

The thing is not necessary for me :).

Ignoring people is one of my talents: comes from growing up in a large crazy family.

Hey Kirk, go to your profile and it's the 6th thing down from the top. It reads:

ignored by __ and, in your case, there is a 0 there. ;) Mine ujsed to look like that, not that long ago. ::) Oh well.
