Cable Quality Question
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:54:23 AM »
I want to replace all the cables on my 350F-1. Is there a brand preference? and if so just how much better are good ones than cheaper ones. I can't or don't know how to tell if its OK or not. Asking because I don't want to buy any crap off ebay without knowing better!

By all cable I mean Speedo/Tach/Brake and upper and lower Throttle

TIA

I think the Motion Pro stuff is fine, some people have not liked them. I would guess length and routing are more important than the brand. Of course if you want the best, Honda.

If you do a search here on motionpro, you'll find that some folks have fit issues with them.  For the price, I just go with Honda.  The originals lasted 30-40 years.  The oem replacements ought to, too.

You might pay a little more for the Honda ones, but at least you KNOW they're gonna work and work well, and for a long time.  With the other brands you have to quadruple check your measurements and make sure they got the note, blah blah blah.  You make the call.  One of those deals where you get what you pay for.

Stick with the honda cables. The Honda tach, speedo and clutch cables are about the same price as aftermarket. Only the Honda throttle cables seem to be a bit pricey. (at least on my 76 CB750F)
