IS THIS CR750 TRIBUTE BIKE WORTH IT ?
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:21:59 PM »
I'm curious, is the price out of line or not ?  The add doesn't mention anything about the engine. I'm assuming it's stock.
Whatta ya guy's think ?

Very nice looking bike, but without the engine work, or an interesting history, I think it's stretching for the $9000 buy it now price.....

With the sellers comment about 23000mi when he got it and 26000mi as is, I doubt there's much engine work...

I'd guess about half that much, but it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

That's what i was thinking. Without a high performance engine the asking price is really high.   ::)

Did that thing sell???!

For 9k I'd expect a replica bike, not a tribute. Along the lines of a Yenko replica and plain jane iron blocked Camaro with Yenko stickers on it. You could build this bike for under 5k all day long, including buying the bike.

Fcuking hell, it doesn't even have drilled discs! And yes mate, square headlights were more common in the (mostly forgettable) 1980's. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Most poeple can find a nice CB750 for less then $1500.  The cr tank seat and fairing will run you $1500.  So where is the rest of the $6000 going in this?

The Cheng Shin tires go very well with the square headlight.

Square head light is one of the deal breakers for me. Not bad attempt.

Agreed, on that ridiculous headlight.
Disagree on the not a bad attempt.

Crappy, non-flowing paint scheme.
Horrible pin-striping.
Brake lines were poorly measured and installed.
Mirrors are totally wrong.
And what racebike, tribute or not, has a freakin' throttle stop?!!!

I with you, this bike just has so many things "wrong" with it I can't stay quiet. I'm not a stickler for stock details or whatever but I think those brake lines must be a foot longer than what they need to be = safety hazard.   Honda Genuine Parts?   Lose the mirrors, don't get started on the headlight.  I don't think that screen was meant to marry with that fairing.  With that said, it has some other nice touches, like the tank and seat.
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!

I need to look where you are... the only decent CB750s I'm finding in the PNW are 2k+ in price.  If it's just "running but ratty" meaning everything is wore out and it needs a lot of love, it's a grand.
