I've gotten a little carried away with the caliper paint. It turned out so good on the brake caliper that I used it on the headlight bucket, sidecovers, rear brake drum, front brake sensor, handlebar controls... I've been using the combination of Duplicolor Self-Etching Primer (DAP 1690) and Caliper Paint (BCP102). It proved to be a little thick for the controls, painting in the lettering isn't going too well. I'm not sure how this paint is going to hold up over time, but for now it looks pretty killer! I also got the frame back from powder coating, they skipped the lower triple tree the first time around but once I get that back I'm going to install the tapered bearings, then work on getting the front and rear reassembled. Then it's on to the engine while I get the wiring hooked back up. Oh, and I also replaced the brake lines with the stuff at
http://slingshot-cycles.com.
For the front flashers, I dig the early 750 style signals that attached directly to the headlight, so I picked up new "ears" and some dual element blinkers. I also got the shorter stems for a tighter look. I'm pretty pleased with them so far.
Here you can kind of see how the controls turned out. I also ordered a pair of Randakk grips (
http://www.randakks.com/Grips.htm), they've gotten really great reviews and they feel like they should be pretty cozy. I repainted the master cylinder, I haven't rebuilt it since the brakes actually worked pretty well before I tore the bike down. I kept the original cap, I like the way it looks especially compared to the cheap plastic replacements.
So yeah, that's the latest on my project. I'm hoping to really start picking up steam this weekend, I'm aiming to go on a trip next month. If I don't have it going by then, I think I can have my cousin's '82 CB900F going by then.
