Topic: rear wheel weight

Does anyone know the rear wheel weight of the stock rim with brake assy? (no tire) I am looking at wheel conversions and trying to compare. I searched but didn't come up with anything.. 

I have a 71 CB750

I've got my 73's together without tube or tire, but no scale sorry.

I will say that the 90's 750 Nighthawk wheel I'll be using...fully assembled with axle, sprocket and brake...is still lighter than the bare rim spoked to the hub without a sprocket or brake or axle....
I'd say most alloy wheels will save you close to 10lbs.

Alan, just weigh yourself with & without it, on a bathroom scale.

 Around the shop I use a hanging scale to 50 lbs, for approx weights.. for wheels I just use a piece of rope/cord to hold it..

OK, I borrowed an old bathroom scale from the inlaws and it's 30# for complete 18" rear wheel. This includes the sprocket, sprocket carrier, and the complete brake carrier, as well as the axle and spacers, but no tire or tube.

More accurate numbers are available but these are close.

The same scale showed the 90's 750 Nighthawk wheel I'll be using on my K3 to weigh in at 35# complete with all of the above items with the tire mounted.

So maybe an easy 5 or 6 pounds lighter at least?

More sport oriented wheels with disk brake are certain to be lighter still.
