cb550 engine swap question

i have a 74 cb550 i can get a 83 cb550 cheap rebuilt engine what would i have to do  to make it work or would it be worth it.i just don't want to be down when i'm rebuilding my engine. would like some input please. thanks

If you have a good, running engine in your bike then what's your motivation to finish the rebuild on the original engine? ;) 

I know not being able to ride the bike has always been a big motivating factor in getting my ass out in the garage to finish the engine!

I agree with Mark.  The work it would require to make that engine work in your frame would not be worth it, especially if it's just a temporary solution.
