He Ron, sorry to hear your having some bad luck with the test.

How is it out there today for riding? I'm over in Dearborn Heights.

not sure if this will make you feel better or worse, but my buddy has had his 550 rebuilt professionally TWICE and it still slips

Mine's in pieces anyway. It won't be done til spring. We'll have to get together sometime when they're both together and running right.

Well thanks guys...sounds like no easy fixes out there...I'll mess around with the clutch maybe and work on my 450 for awhile.

clutch slip is more of a smooth slip, gear jumping is jerky,if it was the clutch it would slip in all gears under hard accelleration,if its only second,it might have to come apart.

I guess there might be another alternative I missed on...shift mechanism...I might be "overshifting" if I didn't assemble the pins on the shift drum correct or some other shift assembly mistake...will let you u...thx.

I thought about that in my case as well.  I kind of figured if I could get 1st, 2nd, and even 4th the odds were pretty slim.  I may check that though just to be safe.  Let me know how you turn out...
