If you don't have the confidence in your abilities to learn how to wheelie on your own, you have no place learning how to wheelie in the first place.  If people don't learn that there are consequences for acting like a hooligan early on, then they will end up killing themselves (and others) on a crowded highway.

But that's just my personal opinion.  I like to wheelie on my '76 Goldwing  ;D

At MMI they brought this dyno thing with a sportbike on it... Front end was strapped to basically a big engine lift... Let you learn how to pull wheelies safely... I learned the old school way, when I was 4 on a Honda XR50!!!

Maybe i'm a weenie, but if my front end comes off the ground, it was an accident. Unless I get a dirt bike, then all bets are off  ;D

i'd see alot of sportbikes coming into the shop with the neck pounded into an oblong shape rather than rounded with cracks in it alot of times. the complaint would be alot of play and vibration when on rough roads. i'd work on it with a brass hammer to get it back to a relatively round shape and tell the customer to quit with the damn wheelies. most insurance companies would total the bike if a claim was made for the damage done to the aluminum frames in this manner.

I didn't have to try, I bought a Triumph Rocket III, and with 140 cubic inches, 140 RWBHP and 140 foot pounds of torque, it's more of an effort NOT to wheelie the damn thing! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

well terry, i don't think that's good enough.  you need to install the turbo kit that's out there and make sure it's impossible to keep the front end on the ground!!   ;D ;D ;D

but i agree with you, i used to brake these beasts in for a Triumph dealer in colorado, and i'd get to go uncork them some, and they're SO scary when that front end tops out on suspension travel!!!  but a cool bike nonetheless, especially with an open 3-3 exhaust   8)
