Great movie, you leave thinking do they expect you to feel sorry for some douche bag who makes his living making it easier for a corporate bean counters to send jobs to the communist, or is he a character just caught up in the same merry go round the rest of us are.

And Vera Farmiga, hot, damn.  (at least for an old guy)

Timely post as I saw it last night....completely agree about Vera Farmiga  -wow!  :o

What I got from it was not the guys job - someone has to do it afterall, but his realization of what a crap life he had...and that perhaps more ironically, he realized that what he was saying in his "lecture was true -you cant trust anyone ;-).

cheers
Andy

I can see where you might feel sorry for him, they work hard to make him empathetic, but the young lady, Natalie, is the one with a heart in the end.

Ryan just goes on, changes airlines and goes on.

He just changes airlines, moves To USAir from American...

Like I said, it leaves one with a question about his character.  I have empathy for him, he did his job as well as he could, made it his dominate thing in his life, but in the end it was all superficial.

At every attempt at real emotion he fails.  Even with the lady jumping from the bridge he did what was required to cover the company with his statement to his boss.

Maybe letting go of the handle on his carry on was a symbol of him following Natalie, but it is left for us.

I missed that! I see your point on the other comments though.

Where the movie fell down for me was....she (vera) would never have given him her real home address.....
