Got a Phone Call From My Mother-in-law Today
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:11:19 PM »

Yeah, I'm in pretty good with my In-Laws. My Mother-In-Law lost my Father-In-Law back in August 2003, then Brenda last July, Her Daughter-In-Law is in the hospital with blood sugar related problems, after just starting to go through Cancer treatments. Man,
My Mother-In-Law has gone (and is going) through all this and She calls ME to see how I am doing! :-\ I'm worried about HER, myself (and the others, of course). :(  I mean, all that SHE has gone through and what is presently going on in her Family. While in discussion, she told me that it took her a little over a year before she felt ANY relief from
losing her Husband. I will NEVER forget when Brenda and I went to the hospital to see her Dad (MY Father-In-Law), just a few days before he died. While we were there, he was in and out of it off and on (it was kind of like he was awake, but yet he wasn't) and was constantly saying things like "there's only ONE way to get to Heaven" Apologizing to Jesus for things he'd done and quoting scriptures. It was truly evident that the man KNEW The Lord and even though I AM a Christian, I was really set back by the way he kept going on lke that. I just don't see how ANYONE could witness that AND NOT Believe! To MY Dying day, I will NEVER forget that experience.

Just wanted to share about my Mother-In-Law and how strong She is! ;)

She's a strong woman Bill! My MIL was the exact opposite! When her husband died she told my wife (girlfriend at the time) that she had nothing left to live for. Real nice thing to say to both your daughters who were really just starting their lives out. Anyways, she was always a heavy drinker but that put her over the edge and she was beyond an alcoholic. Basically drank herself to death even after losing a leg to COPD. Literally was in a nursing home and would talk other patients or their family into pushing her across the street so she could go to the bar  ???

Anyways, just wanted to say that adversity reveal character and glad to hear you MIL handled it the way she did....and how you are handling it as well.

Be strong

Dennis

Yeah, my Mother-In-Law is pretty strong all right. Sure, it took her a bit to get herself together. She had 2 sons and a daughter (and their families) right there and We were (and still are) about 2 1/2 - 3hrs away. Then, with Brenda gone, my Daughter and I don't have any family up her close, except my Dad. I do have my Daughter's worker, who IS like family and she has helped, me several times when I've been on the edge of losing control. Funny how she just knows the right things to say, that helps me get my composure back. Oh, I don't have problems as much as I did, but still do off and on. I usually can put up a pretty good front, but there ARE times that I'm not THAT strong. There are friends and Church members ( Preacher included) that have said, "If there's anything I can do, just let me know!" But, I don't know what to tell them AND I just don't feel comfortable talking with them about it. However, I seem to be able to talk to most of you all without any problem (that's because we ARE family here, as far as I am concerned) ;)

That is really too bad about YOUR MIL too! :-\

Dennis, I'm doing the best I can. This evening though, my Asthma has decided to act up and I am presently dealing with an Asthma attack. I usually have 2 inhalers (a medicated one and an emergency one, to break up an attack) At the present, I am out of the "emergency one" and only have the medicated one here. Usually, drinking a couple of cups of hot coffee, will do the trick and that's what I'm doing now.

                                 Talk to you later, Bill
