I know that it's easy to go overboard with the rationalizations, but investing $50 in a paint gun would seem like a worthwhile idea given your plans to try to commercialize your hobby.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

It doesn't take too much rationalizing for me to go get tools usually  ;D.

Interestingly enough I posted the same question on another forum and they brought up soda blasting the whole engine. I will definitely have to consider the steps to achieve this. I was wanting to build a setup for carbs I might consider building it large enough for a motor. You guys think that blasting is a viable option here or is it too much hassle to achieve?

Thanks for all the thoughts here, many heads are better then one especially mine. I hope no one thought I knew it all, because today is the day they get let down, lol.

You may not know it all, however you are light years ahead of me.

I think the soda blaster of the size you are talking about would be a hastle, however it would be used fairly often and it would give you a nice clean motor (on the outside anyway).

If you decide to do the engine sized soda blaster, I've got a couple I'd like to have blasted....

You're making quick work of the lathe and mill. Those pieces are looking nice!  I haven't seen anyone soda blast a complete motor - just pieces once disassembled. Curious to see if it could stay buttoned up enough to keep the soda from getting in it.

well the fun picture worthy stuff is happening you know paint  ::)

Radiator with new nicer rock guard

Frame is getting final touches, like covers on openings that are no longer being used. Welds are completed and grinding work done. Then paint prep and finally paint.

I personally think the frame is a beauty in its simplicity.

One piece at a time this is what it looks like now, but the devil is in the details. I always feel like I am doing awesome then the last few bits and pieces seem to kick my ass. We will see though.

I dont see that fork brace doing much. It needs to have triangulation to keep anything from twisting.

yeah I am planning on testing it out soon when I get the bolts to hold it on. You may be right but we will find out when I test it out. I can always add some cross bracing. The other thing to consider is most braces are made completely from aluminum the bars are steel so they are considerably stronger then they appear. I won't no for sure until I test it out though but that is my theory. I made it that way because I want it to appear to be slightly impossible but that may backfire.

What if you were to slide a 2 or 3 inch wide "block" to the middle of it? might be a little stiffer and give you a place to hang a fender if you wanted...
