Retro, that'll probably work.  The fender mounts look rolled (not flat), but I'm sure cornandp can flatten them toward the new bottom (if he cuts them down) and redrill as you mentioned.

the problem I have with drilling new holes and trying to flatten the new section is that there is a fine line that if the bracket becomes too small or too large it causes the forks to bind. This is something I do not want to mess with. I will however build a fixture to hold the ends in place while I cut and remove some of the bracket to lower the fender. It may seem like more work but in the end the result will be better I think.

Just posting up the latest. I wrapped the exhaust, built both of the foot peg mounts, made a new shifter arm, the tank is ready to be primed. I also am trying to figure out the best location for the temp gauge.

Lovin' the tank's clip on cutouts!  Are you going to paint the cutouts and knee dents different than the tank color?

Do you need a light to illuminate the plate in Washington?  Colorado requires it.

Yeah the plate needs a light, but I haven't started work on that yet. I don't want wiring to run down the swing arm though so I am planning to put the light recessed up under the seat and have it shine down on the plate from there. Probably a LED flashlight type device that has a pretty direct beam. I will work it all out though. I also need to install a working horn.

If I was to paint the cut outs different colors, what would the color choice be in your opinion?

Ooooowwweeee, cutout and knee dent color is a tough one!  Based on the VeeDub dark gray you're using, I immediately thought "black."  But, then me thinked, keep them the same color and pinstripe around them in either black or a lighter gray for a subtle way to offset them.  Or, if you wanna go nuts, do them in either a brake-caliper red or your shock-spring yellow to make them POP!

I think since she's your sister's bike a Hot Pink would be appropriate and earmark the bike as a woman's ride...
The bright yellow would go with the coil of the rear spring and red is often done.
Silver and yellow look good together as does grey and yellow. A bright silver pinstripe painted around the cutout to make the color of the knee and handlebar cutouts stand out would be a good transition for the yellow or whatever color you go with...

Tidbit...
NASA came out with a substance that is growing carbon nanotubes on titanium and it is 10 times blacker than the blackest paint currently available. (A mil spec black color used on optics....)
So, it's blacker than the black previously possible.
Current black paint leaves them with a 40% light degradation using the old paint compared to the new carbon nanotube substance they have developed at Lewis Research Center in Ohio.

I am planning on hiring our pinstriper to make paint a logo in a darker pink on her bike I may just have the knee cutouts and the clip cut outs pinstriped with the same color, or even a silver. Lots to think about. The nice thing is I can probably just have everything painted the base color to begin with then it would be a little easier to imagine color options and detail work.

it just is part my last name part of my first name and a middle initial.

When I first started joining forums I didn't expect to start posting so much and it was easier to use a name that was not being used with out a doubt vs coming up with something "ridiculously" cool that no one was using already. The Little Horse thing started to become more a part of me so I am now changing as many of my forum names to that as I can. Anyways fun fun.

That looks like a great starting point!  How much was she(if you don't mind me asking)  I just passed up a yellow one that was in pieces for $399...I really want an S90, but they're kinda expensive around these parts (California).

Have fun, can't wait to subscribe to the next thread!

I will post it here. There actually isn't any cafe interest in this bike that I can find. I paid $500 although it was my dad making the deal and I said to him to offer 400 and wait a few days to see if the seller would drop the price but I think he got excited. Oh well there is my remorse kicking in again. I better get this thing to my shop so I can cure myself of this disease.
