I will post it here. There actually isn't any cafe interest in this bike that I can find. I paid $500 although it was my dad making the deal and I said to him to offer 400 and wait a few days to see if the seller would drop the price but I think he got excited. Oh well there is my remorse kicking in again. I better get this thing to my shop so I can cure myself of this disease.

I don't think you paid too much for that, it's complete!  Especially since you're up in Oregon...the only place where prices seem to be higher than California's!!  What was his original asking?

$600 but he also said it was running and it wasn't. I don't feel like we got ripped off I just think there was a shot at doing better. When buying things I really don't need I also like to give myself a little time to mull it over so I would have offered $400 and waited a day or two to see if he would have bitten then if not I had time to think it over if I wanted to offer more. All this thought will change as soon as she starts coming apart. The selling and buying thing takes practice is all.

I am working on Little "D" today. Trying to get a rear hugger mounted up and the likes. Oddly enough the bus is distracting me today. Why I parked the damn thing in the shop today is beyond me, lol.

What year/engine is your van?  My dad's been fixing VeeDub's since the late sixties when they used to throw 356 engines in Bugs.  I have respect for you keeping her going.  Not many people want to deal with them anymore, so he rarely sees them in the shop.  He's still got a few of 'em left...a green Thing, a '65 Bug convertible, and a couple vans.  I still love the smell of them!

Its a 65 sundial bus I am running a 1600 dp, single 34 carb. Runs great, but she needs brake and transmission attention soon. I extended the shifter arm so I can be more comfortable shifting. The leaning forward for shifting was killing my back.

I am really happy with how it turned out myself. I am planning on possibly using more of that style bar in other places on the bike to act as the detail bits.

I gotta stop looking at show bikes on pipeburn... I am a little overwhelmed sometimes it seems achieving the kind of results on there is miles beyond me.

Well, I do at times feel limited by the tooling I have in the shop. I desperately could use machining tools. For starters I have been looking at picking up this: http://www.grizzly.com/products/Combo-Lathe-w-Milling-Attachment/G0516

It could really jump start what I can do with motorcycles right now.

I was watching American Choppers last night mostly for laughs. The builders where making a bike for the Blackhawk's and they where all proud of themselves for bolting a bike together, lol. A "custom" bike with off the shelf parts. Then I start looking at Pipeburn's top ten on commercial breaks and went from hero to zero. Ha, sometimes I just need a reality check that if I want to I could and just trust that it is that way. Although most of the time I feel like being that good isn't true with just potential that you actually have to prove it with results that is when it seems I am so far off. Well thanks for the votes of confidence guys.

The hugger turned out really cool.  I'm w/ the others, it's just a matter of $$.  Given the quality you create with the existing tools you have, more machines (like a lathe/mill), cnc, etc., would make you a force to be reckoned with in the industry!

Congrats on the new ride.  Are you thinking stock errand runner?

I dont think stock is in my vocab  ;D

So to paint the picture with the 90. Here we go, name Little Grasshopper, paint scheme matte candy apple green with vintage off white. Reverse levers hand wrapped grips on clubman style bars. Cafe style seat and cowl and maybe if I have the machining capabilities custom made super charger but we will see.

and the good news is my boss today let me talk him into purchasing this: http://www.grizzly.com/products/12-x-36-Metal-Lathe-w-Milling-Head/G0492

So the supercharger isn't as far off as I thought. I plan on using Grasshopper as a learning and stepping stone to eventually charge Little "D" too. I have a feeling my sister will continue to love the bike but may eventually find herself wanting more power. The cx 500 was turbo'd a few years later and I haven't completely confirmed this yet but I have a feeling Honda designed the bottom end of the cx motor to handle boost from the out set meaning it should be a good candidate for a charger. I think it is possible to with a medium amount of boost to see HP numbers around 80 at the wheel. All in good time though.

I am sorry now some of you will never get away from my build threads (wicked laugh) its like a soap opera that never ends (rubs hands together) muhahahaha.

Yeah, shouldn't known you wouldn't keep it stock!  Sounds like another cool scoot. Nice sales job on the lathe/mill. Looking forward to seeing what creations that brings forth!
