400f exhaust for 350f?
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:43:22 AM »
i just got a 73 350f yesterday (the one in the for sale section) and it has the stock 4 into 4 pipes on it and they are in beautiful shape.  i am thinking of taking them off and so they dont get ruined or rot out.  i want to ride this bike alot and need to know if the exhaust from a 400f will fit on it also so i have more options to replace it.  i dont have much money so i just want something relatively cheap so i can ride and not be thinkin about those pipes get crapped up.  thanks for the help.
or maybe im just dumb . . .

Cool. :)

I know there are issues with the footpegs and hanging the muffler but don't know what exactly, so hopefully you found that.  I wouldn't go looking for a decent set of 400F pipes to cheaply replace your nice 350F pipes with, though.  400F pipes in decent shape are pretty expensive, too.

I think the most common aftermarket muffler set-up for the 350 was a slip-on muffler for each side that converted the headers to a 4-2 instead of the stock 4-4.  More 350F's seem to have those than their stock mufflers, so there are probably a decent amount of them available used.

thanks, more than likely i will build an exhaust how i want it, i basically will just need the first few inches of the header pipes and finagle from there.
or maybe im just dumb . . .

I have a decent set of headers for a 400F sitting in my basement. $60 shipped if you want them.  They aren't show condition, but they are clean enough to look good.  If you are interested, then I can post some pics.  I also have a Kerker 4-1 that is in near perfect condition... I'm still planning to put it on my 350F though... just wanted to brag a bit.  ;-)
