550 speedo disassembly
« on: July 05, 2009, 10:27:38 PM »
Hey guys! I got a question,
Is there a right or wrong way to disassemble my 550 speedo? Basically I want to install a new face plate (mines faded and cracked and green doesn't go with my color scheme). I think it can be done but maybe I am mistaken. Any suggestions would help.
Thanks! :)

I'm in a similar boat and couldn't find much searching for info on rebuilding gauges. I see there is another thread very similar in the Project Shop http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=54275.0

Guys,
The last post was some time ago, but if you're still looking for face plates I might be able to help you out.  Go to my site (www.jvcycles.com) and on the left click on the "Download" section.  I made the face plates on the site for a CB750K.  They're not hard to design now that I know how to use the software.  You would need to send me a scanned image of your OEM face plates (Speedo & Tach) and I can send you or put on my site for download, the graphics.  You would then need to bring them to a printer or sign shop.  I can put just about any graphic you want on the face plates.  The only caution is that some printers won't print logos, like the Honda wing logo, etc.  This helps me by having more choices for people to buy should I ever start selling these on ebay.  Let me know.  My email is on the site.
