Hard to source items for 400f
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:03:37 PM »
Hi all,

Emerging from Lurkerville to get some help with my new 400f project. Yay winter! Picked up a sweet '75 in V. Blue with 12K on the clock and am ready to get it ready for the summer.

A couple things I've seen around the boards that I MUST HAVE:

brawny aluminum fork brace/front fender mount. Far as I can tell, these exist in the Valley of the Unicorns, far beyond the reach of pasty mortals like myself. Are all you people just mad scientist machinists who can whip up any part you want? Well, if so, please sell me one of your braces. Alternately, please help me find a retailer where I can purchase one.

Same goes for front fenders. I ran fenderless on my 550, but I'd like to install one of those skinny fiberglass jobs I see on so many members' bikes. I can't find one anywhere that's made for the 400f. I plan to run a 90/90 18 front tire, and would like a small hugger to keep the rain off my face. Anyone know where I can get one/if there's a modern sportbike part that I could repurpose?

Thanks a mill. I'll post pics of the 400f when I get it into the shop for ultimate before-and-aftering. mmmmm.

Shouldn't have given up digging so soon. Found the front fender. In case anyone else is looking:

Still no love on the fork brace, though...

why buy a fender if you have a perfectly good one to hack into what you want? assuming you have one... thats what i did... well mine wasnt "perfect".
