Topic: help me brainstorm...please! headlight/ guage issue.

so ive got these strange bars on my cb500, which i like (and for the last time they aren't #$%*in reversed clubmans ) anyway, there is no way in hell i can fit both the tach and speedo. short bars and they don't drop so the m/c is in the way. ive come to terms with this since i like the bars ( no drop + no rear sets = somewhat comfortable) but the way the headlight is designed, no cable is going to work in the middle. i want to use the speedo, so i made a small riser for it. about 1.5" and though i was able to get the cable on, i still broke it. luckily i have more. but i was thinking, anyone ever modify the headlight so the cable can run through it? like drilling top and bottom, haven't thought as far as sealing since I'm not sure to begin with. i want to keep it low, but if i have no other options... well i have to think of something cause I'm getting married this year. even the moths have left my wallet.... thoughts? ideas?thanks...

i had to make a custom mount for my gauges. as for drilling thru the headlight bucket. that's up to you . but i think i would try other ways first!

thats why im asking. ill cut if i have to, but... custom bracket isnt a problem, im stoned and have power tools, i can make anything. seriously i can, do you have any pics? the mounting isnt the issue as much as the stock headlight/ brackets and cable not meshing period. and my forks look like hell under those headlight brackets, so different ones arent really an option... although that would solve this...

Flip the fork ears over, it'll lower your headlight enough probably, and it's a free mod.  Otherwise if you drill your headlight for your cable, aiming the headlight may become an issue. I wouldn't worry about water getting in though.

I saw the Benji set up for the first time online tonight, super nice and looks like it may solve your problem.  It's a bit expensive though, of course.  Are 550 and 500 gauges totally different???  These guys sell smaller gauges, I recently bought a tach from them for my 550.  And again, kind of expensive.

i wish... there are more "medical cannibas clubs" in sf than mcdonalds. im not kidding. no $$$ there. very competitive out here. now if the old lady would let me set up a grow room next to the bike i had to beg for....   ill give her some credit though, since i got it running we have been shopping for another for her ( if you have a 350 or less in ca pm me) any other cheap or free ideas, im flipping the ears tomorrow!

i posted a "bar i.d." thread and got nothing, lots of " you need to flip your clubmans over"..... arrrgggg, they are #$%*in flat! then again im a horrible photographer, and my grammer is just as bad... so its probably my fault, maybe...

so flipping the fork ears wont work... since they wrap around the lower tree and hold the gators? any other ideas? or any on how i could make this work?
