It's funny. I guess in a thread you're supposed to stay 'on topic' but the dude with the chopped up 'choppa' afraid of theft reminded me of someone on here.
There was a fella on here awhile back who had a black (550? 750?) that he called his rat bike. It was really ratty. Duct tape seats, rattlecanned tank, just a ratty old machine, but it ran decent and he liked it a lot. It had character. Then some SOB STEALS it. This machine was def. not pretty by any means, mind you!
Somehow, I dunno if it was by forum members seeing it somewhere or something (we were all on the look out, he was from my city) but he gets it back. We are all overjoyed. It was cause for celebration! Not every bike needs to be pretty- it's their owner's steed, as long as it runs safe.
...then not long after, he comes back and says it was stolen again.
I suppose that could have meant one of two things: either thieves are looking for bikes with character now, or that he must've lived in a real, real rough part of town. Maybe both? Either way, apparently yes, even 'fugly' and 'barely intact' bikes can get stolen, sad as it may be. I don't remember if he got it back the second time...
